My new Macbook (running Sonoma) displays a nighttime view when on satellite, and I would like to turn this off. I am a teacher and use Apple Maps for geography lessons, and the nighttime view does not show the details we need for our lessons. It does turn off when you zoom in, but I'd like to turn it off entirely.

Sorry, to clarify: Apple Maps, when in satellite view, shows where the earth is currently experiencing nighttime— it’s a dark view with lights at major cities. This appears to be a new feature in Sonoma. I am not able to turn it off and see a regular satellite image. TIA.

My Intel Mac on Sonoma doesn’t seem to do that, nor can I find a setting to enable that, let alone stop that.
