PDF deleted from Files folder

I was studying on pdf and I have edited it , but suddenly that pdf has been deleted automatically from files app

File not opening I couldn’t open some of my pdf file. The file is ‘no longer ‘exist’. Even the deletion option is also not available. It is not seen in recently deleted file. How can I recover my file..?

Where do my files that are opened in preview saved? I opened pdf file in preview and after changing few tings on it I click on "save " and it just disappeared and I can not find where it was saved. I checked recent items, checked in downloads and other folders in finder but it is nowhere to be found. i saw somebody else asked this question but didn't get answer.
