I placed the pre-order promptly this morning the moment the apple stored allowed. My card has already been charged and the order is now in "processing". Apple usually does not charge for payment until an order shipped. Can I assume my phone is shipping or very close to it and potentially will receive before the launch date on the 20th?

You won’t receive it before launch day. It may ship and start moving through the chain but it will be held at the shipping hub until an authorized date to start the final shipping route to you. You will receive it on launch day if that is when it’s scheduled unless of course delays occur (once the shipper has it for example if a significant weather event occurs it could cause delays).
You ordered late. Quickest you order the quickest delivery you will get.
Mines says preparing to shipped since saturday it is still stuck there since lets hope i get the tracking email today or tomorrow wednesday🤞
how do you track it with ups my choice without a tracking number from apple
i got a ups tracking number on Saturday, I preordered through Verizon. I’m also wondering if I’ll receive mine early, ups says they’re in possession
Was able to get my tracking number even though Apple has not given it to me. Just had my reference number and talking to ups they gave me the tracking number🎉

UPS has been in possession of most preorders that are scheduled for launch day since Friday evening or early Saturday morning.
Yes my tracking number saying ups has it and been holding it since the weekend
Mine is the same way, hopefully it will give us tracking today. My guess is other people got a tracking # because they ordered through their providers website instead of Apple.

Anyone in Bay Area? My still says preparing to ship and arrives on Sept 20. Somehow I still don’t get any trackings yet… I’m guessing they should be update it today or tomorrow????
Go to UPS.com. Click on Tracking, then UPS My Choice. It will show pending deliveries/tracking #'s
I’m thinking that they aren’t scanning the package and the are why we might not be getting tracking info??? Still I have not received tracking information
i talk to an apple rep they said thursday night or friday morning will get the tracking number.
Mine is just sitting at UPS the last few days and not moving anywhere. Verizon told me two day shipping and is now almost a week and it just keeps sitting at UPS and not moving anywhere.
