WhatsApp Web Doesn’t load

my device is an ipad gen 5 with iPadOS 14.4 and i dont have enough storage to update it to latest version. Can you suggest a potential solution?

also i could try updating via iTunes. Does using iTunes zero requried storage? I’m a student and my iPad has 32 GB storage and it’s already almost full with system files (i tried deleting safari history etc) so every byte counts

iPad, iPadOS 14

Updating via iTunes will probably not help. The only solution will be to delete some files. Some things you can try clearing to try and reduce system storage are to clear Safari's web data:

Settings > Safari > Clear History & Website Data

Also delete any messages in the Messages app you no longer need, delete photos or move them to other storage or sites, and delete any apps you don't use or need right away.

When I try to access Whatsapp using the URL your screenshot shows, it requires me to use their app, at least to get set up. So you need to download and install their app, if you don't have it already, and will need to clear enough space so you can install it.

If you do have Whatsapp on your iPhone, contact Whatsapp for further help. Whether updating iOS on your phone will help I have no idea.

The whatsapp app is not avaliable for tablets and my device is an iPad, not an iPhone. Therefore I can’t access the app. What I need is a way to reduce system files so I can update my iPadOS (by this I mean a way to delete the versions of iOS I downloaded before I downloaded iPadOS 14 since they are taking the most space) OR a way to open whatsapp web -not the app- with my current OS.

You originally posted in the iPhone forum, hence my linking to that information.

There are no prior versions of iPadOS on your iPad to delete. An update replaces all the existing files with newer ones. So there's nothing to delete from that standpoint.

But in any case, an iPadOS update isn't going to help. If WhatsApp requires that you have their app, as appears to be the case, and they don't make a version compatible with an iPad, then it's not going to work. Again, you need to take this up with WhatsApp Support and ask them if they have a workaround.

Regards.
