It appears that when long exposure or taking photos of the Northern Lights, there is a circle in the center of the photos, only when taking pictures of the northern lights though

You didn't include a pictures, so it's really hard to be sure. But I think you're probably seeing interference rings, often called Newton's Rings, that are generated when two nearly flat pieces of glass, like lenses in a camera, are in contact. Those rings are always there, but they are usually hidden by the diffuse light in "normal" photographs.
A sample image could be helpful.
The rings are caused by a spacing of 0.00001 cm, like the size of a virus, and I think that it may be unavoidable when you design sophisticated cameras that fit into such incredibly small spaces. But I can imagine AI software recognizing and compensating for the effect. You can let Apple know that this is a problem here:
