Why can't I update my iPhone to iOS 18?

I’m trying to update my phone. I have a 13 Pro Max. I’m only seeing iOS 17.7 and not 18. How do I get the 18?

hey!! i had the same issue, and then i made sure to click the betas tab and turn it off, and then ios 18 became available to me. you may have ios 17 beta selected, and that’s what stopped it from bringing up ios 18 for me.

I think you’re ignoring our main question and our main complaint. Why aren’t we seeing that there is an update for us, obviously some people aren’t. I am not seeing that there is an update available for me. My iPad is telling me that I am up-to-date with iOS 17.7 do da. I use YouTube and know beyond a shadow of a doubt hundreds of streamers are showing videos of iPad iOS 18 running smoothly on their iPads now. Why is my iPad lying to me? I have an M4 16 gig one terabyte iPad Pro that somehow must be broken because it says I’m up-to-date and I know I’m not. Yes, there are millions trying to update iPhones and iPads right now but this is Apple‘s plan. Sad plan, sad way to treat the people buying their most progressive and expensive devices, but what do I know, they are the experts they have the sharp minds and the cash to execute any plan.

Do you have an M4 iPad? If so, Apple has pulled the iPadOS 18 version for that device due to some serious issues. It is not available. Apple has not stated when they will make it available again.

The update was there a while back…I decided to update to 17.7…now the 18 update option is gone.

If you were trying to update a M4 iPad Pro (not an iPhone), this might be because Apple temporarily pulled the iPadOS 18 update for the M4 iPad Pro, due to serious issues.

I have not heard of the iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 updates being pulled for any other eligible iPhone or iPad.

I have an iPhone 13 Pro and an iPad Pro (5th Gen). Both continue to show "Unable to Check for Update", "An error occurred while checking for a software update." The "Try again" button does nothing. This started on other compatible devices I support on Saturday (Oct 12, 2024), with no remedy in site, unless you have a suggestion.

I currently have iOS 17.6.1 installed.

I've tried restarting my device, but that hasn't solved the issue.

I have 139GB of free space on my 256GB device, so that is not an issue.

The Apple System Status webpage is useless in this regard since it only tells you that everything is green.

No, you don't.

You have the option to install Betas there, but you won't be able to install iOS 18 Beta on an SE at all.

iOS 18 is simply not supported on an iPhone SE.

If you try to install it, its just going to fail.

There's a reason your iOS version 16.7.10 says it's up to date.

I updated my phone to iOS 18 and have not been pleased with it, the performance drop drastically,it has slowed down and I should not have updated, I am trying to update it to iOS 18.1 now but having trouble getting it to update, but from what I understand it has a lot of issues too, but iOS 18 has wrecked the performance on my phone so think twice before you load it

iOS 18.1 works superbly on my iPhone 16 Pro. Consider the possibility, no matter how unlikely you think it is, that the problem is not with the update, but with your phone, and then troubleshoot it based on that. There have been few complaints about performance with iOS 18, which means that millions of users don’t have problems.

There are things users don’t like about the update, but that’s been true with every one of the 50+ updates made over the 17 years iPhones have been available.
