I’m trying to update my phone. I have a 13 Pro Max. I’m only seeing iOS 17.7 and not 18. How do I get the 18?

hey!! i had the same issue, and then i made sure to click the betas tab and turn it off, and then ios 18 became available to me. you may have ios 17 beta selected, and that’s what stopped it from bringing up ios 18 for me.

According to MacTracker, a phone with that model number would be an iPhone 8 Plus.
The iPhone 8 Plus is not compatible with iOS 18 – or 17, for that matter. iOS 16 is the end of the line. If you want iOS 18, you will need to get a newer iPhone.
I have had my iPhone XR since August now and I’ve been able to download every other update except the iOS 18 I get that my iPhone is old but most iPhones download all of the updates and the XR isn’t the newest but it’s not the oldest please help this
You may not like los 18, I had a lot of problems with it and updated to iOS 18.1 there was a lot of slow problems and lagging, I updated t ios18.1 shut down and reset and now it’s working fine, I hear they’re working on a new update from iOS 18.1 so you might want to wait for it
No one can help you with that dearth of information. First, have you followed the suggestions already offered? What model phone do you have? What iOS are you currently using? What does it say when you tap “software update “? What have you tried so far?

The iPhone 7 started out on iOS 10, and has gotten five major version updates, but iOS 15 is the end of the line. If you want iOS 18, buy a new iPhone that can run it.

There was a time after iOS 18 came out when Apple offered a choice between iOS 17 and 18. This screenshot is from my phone, from last September, when it was running iOS 16. Note the offer to update to iOS 17.7 at the top and the offer to update to iOS 18 at the bottom.
You apparently waited too long to take advantage of this "exception that proves the rule" – so now the only major version update available to you is iOS 18, whether you want iOS 18, or not.
How do I update apple I phone to iOS 18? My phone used to do auto upgrades when not in use & charged over night. I got a notice to upgrade to 18 & install now or tonight I didn’t want to do it till ready.

iOS 16 is the end of the line for the iPhone 8 Plus.
If you have an iPhone 8 Plus that's running the latest release of iOS 16 – currently 16.7.10 – your phone will tell you that it is up to date. An iPhone 8 Plus cannot, and will not, update to iOS 17 or higher.

You can't. Your iPhone can never be updated past iOS 15.8.x (current version is 15.8.4). It reached the end of major updates when iOS 15 was released 3 years ago. If you need anything higher than iOS 15, then you'll need to buy a new or much newer iPhone at this point.

Look at the bottom of the screen for the 17.7 update. There should be an iOS 18 update button there.

Because several million other users are doing the same thing. The servers only have so much bandwidth.
Do you do the public betas? If so, check to see if the "public beta" button is switched to off. Mine was on and once I turned it off, the IOS 18 update showed up on the bottom of my screen.
