Software update issues with macOS Sequoia

I updated iMac M1 2011 & MBP 2021 to macOS Sequoia - after which neither connected wirelessly. Spent 4-5 hours on phone with Apple trying to figure out why with no solutions. Updated Netgear mesh router to latest firmware and software. Even when macOS Sequoia showed connection no web pages pulled up. Apple had me do macOS Recovery basically reinstalling Sequoia (failed). I suspect ESET Cyber Security Pro for blocking access through software firewall.

Does anyone have any ideas or similar issues? Sequoia requires WPA2 personal.

I had the same issue...

Here is how you need to proceed.

As you still don't have any connection due to ESET after the update of MacOS to Sequoia, go to your System Setup/Network/VPN and filters/

then delete all the ESET line shown on your screen

You should have your internet connection back to normal.

Yeah, me too. 2021 iMac M1 with Bitdefender. Safari 18.0 and Sequoia updated together. On restarting the iMac rebooted twice before starting up properly. Safari bricked immediately, webpages won’t load. Typing the Google address into the search bar does nothing other than replacing the address with some random previous search starting with ‘g’.

Updated my MacBook pro to Sequoia 15 without any fear of it making everything impossible. When you look up one problem on a search it always says check your connections, reload your internet blah blah blah. I did a bunch of things and then had to go. Today retry and one simple news site I look at most everyday can't be found by Safari. I go to apple community looking for answers and someone said to remove my VPN and security software then reload it (after several other hoop jumping tasks) then it should work. I DON'T WANT TO and don't have the time to so I can read basic things on my laptop. Now I will just revert to my phone because I don't have to jump through any hoops to use that. UNHAPPY APPLE customer, MacBook pro owner for decades, iPhone user for a long time, sick of updates making life harder.

I'm having the same issue with Safari not loading any webpages (I'm actually using chrome to make this post). I do not have a VPN so that isn't the issue. It will act like it is loading but will not complete. Progress bar gets to about 20%. I have restarted the app, and my computer, dumped the cash and turned off all extensions. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Oh yes - Safari is an absolute mess, completely unusable. What bugs they did have, like pages getting sticky and having to reload sites...or Safari stalling and not feeding new pages, have intensified.

Like, 'hey Apple' how about fixing the old bugs, instead of creating new bugs?

Distractions like lecturing on VPN is avoiding the issue. It's not VPN. It's the Apple software engineers.

Chrome it is!

Thanks for your response, after previous post telling me it's all my fault for wasting my money on security (which they said I don't need without knowing anything about my situation) left me annoyed by all of it. I know that I tried the fixes I am capable of and will just contact support directly as the community seems to be either just as confused and unhappy as I am or very opinionated about my personal status. Thanks again.

Don't you think Apple would have tested their new release and on systems using popular add-on software? It's a computer! You are supposed to be able to run programs. Apple is supposed to include their partners in a rollout process and inform them about critical changes...not blame the users when things go pear shaped.

It is not your fault.

There are no amount of hours wasted that will make this right.

Apple makes their software available to other software manufacturers well in advance of the final release. It is the responsibility of those manufactures (who are not "partners") to make any required changes in their software.

Thanks, I can agree the line maybe caused from panel, line problem is started today. But what is wrong with Safari? After the update, only safari window is flickering. It is like switching between windows. Even replying this answer is hard. While texting it is kinda switching the safari window with something else and some word is not prompting. I am now having this problem with other browsers. Btw it is Mabcbook Air M1 2021 (Dec)

A couple of things, it's not my phone which also has VPN and is on a different operating system, even after last update NO ISSUE. My MacBook pro with Sequoia 15 update has a whole lot of issues which I thought initially I could fix, didn't work out. Thanks for your suggestions on other forms of privacy and thoughts, perhaps they will help someone with those issues.

I found after installing 15.0 Sequoia from scratch that VPN connections using 3rd party clients are problematic or not functional at all. Security settings changed as recommended do not matter or fix/change anything (enabling network extensions for the software that did install them, restarting, praying. All futile).

All of the VPN settings did work when I simply upgraded from Sonoma to Sequoia. I had to wipe and reinstall because of other OS-upgrade-related slowdowns but the third-party VPNs did work before the wipe. Now they don't work at all.
