iPhone lagging after iOS 18 Update

After today’s update, I’m facing immense lagging issue with the UI, while playing games ( graphics as Average) and typing pauses. System had utilised only 50% storage. What’s the suggested solutions?

THIS WORKED PERFECTLY!!

I read through this entire discussion post and this was the first solution I tried and it was easy and it worked.

The search and Siri settings pages have been separated in iOS18, so I just toggled everything off from both settings pages. Then, I powered off my phone and let it rest for a couple minutes. Powered back on, turned all the settings back on, and ALL ISSUES have gone away…

Note: your phone might lag a little bit while starting up again, make sure to close all tabs and let the software boot up

EDIT: I realized the reply function doesn’t really work so the original post I was quoting does not show. I mostly outlined the process of fixing the iOS18 lag issues, but if this explanation isn’t clear just find an earlier post of someone talking about search and Siri steps.

i updated yesterday to 18

im on 14 pro

i have the exact same issue. constant frame drops, even on youtube..

restart didnt work, storage is ok

game setting equal to ios 17

the ios 18 update has performance issues and you cant blame the iphone.. im assuming they dont dont do it on purpose since 14 pro should still be a valid phone, right?

anyways next week in getting the 16 pro, ill check the performance there on ios 18

for now no more gaming, maybe ill read a book.

Yup same happened to me too. I have iphone se 2022 bought it fall 2023 and ever since I updated from 17.6.1 to 18 its been laggy and slow. Sometimes I have to touch things a few times for it to recognize that Im opening an app or something. Just fyi apple wont fix any of these bugs for another year. This always happens. It takes them forever to fix an issue thats a year old.

Doesnt work. Im more concerned about my issue with the icloud backup storage bug. When I go to delete old backup and backup again the icloud storage increases by a lot. I think one way Ive worked around it is when u go to turn on backup again, toggle off the section that says backup over cellular. Honestly if youre on wifi you shouldnt have to backup on cellular. I think it mightve been using both cell and wifi data at the same time thats why it was increasing so much. Im still playing with it. Im convinced it wont be fixed for like a year or so.

I would like to provide feedback regarding some issues I've been experiencing since updating to iOS 18.

  1. Audio Lagging: When playing songs on YouTube Music, I've noticed a significant audio lag. The volume spikes to maximum for about half a second before returning to normal, which disrupts my listening experience.
  2. Bluetooth Connectivity: I've also encountered connectivity issues with my Bluetooth devices. They frequently disconnect or have difficulty pairing, which is frustrating.

I hope these issues can be addressed in a future update.

Of course they don't do it on purpose. That's just an illogical myth peddled by conspiracy theorists. It would also be illegal in most territories. Even the battery throttling saga landed them in legal trouble, and that was a perfectly understandable decision just implemented and communicated poorly. It's in Apple's interests for their phones to have an excellent reputation. This is a very annoying bug, but it is a bug.

Since updating to iOS18, my iPhone has been having nothing but issues. I switched from a Samsung A53 5G in May, and now I'm having issues with receiving/making phone calls, messages not coming thru, apps randomly crashing, alarms not working, chrome/google not working, basic functions essentially telling me to F off. I got an iPhone because I wanted to try something new. Got told by a lot of people that iPhone was the way to go. I am extremely disappointed in not only the phone itself, but with Apple as a company. I will never buy another iPhone again

I’m on a XR and I almost got into it with my phone lbs it’s laggy at times and if u need to get warm all u gotta do is put this bad boy in your undergarments and boom your body temperature will rise again !!

I swear I feel like I have a ticking time bomb on my hands .. perhaps if it’s able to update on the older models .. maybe it should be optimized more or something to fit the standards of the older phones cuz man it’s annoying
