iPhone lagging after iOS 18 Update

After today’s update, I’m facing immense lagging issue with the UI, while playing games ( graphics as Average) and typing pauses. System had utilised only 50% storage. What’s the suggested solutions?

I’m experiencing this too, and I found this article with a suggestion that worked: https://www.idownloadblog.com/2023/04/07/how-to-fix-slow-search-on-iphone/

Toggle Search off and on

  1. Go to iPhone Settings and tap Siri & Search.
  2. Scroll down and turn off all the switches you see in the screenshot below.
  3. Restart your iPhone.
  4. Go back to Siri & Search settingsand turn on the switches. After this, Spotlight Search should work as intended.

This makes sense that it works because after an OS update, Siri updates its search index for your phone messages, mail, and apps. It can take a long time and while it’s working in the background, apps slow down and searching can take longer than usual, and you might notice Photos.app says that it’s not syncing to iCloud because it is “optimizing system performance.” To help it along, I also made sure to turn off low power mode and plug in my phone so that the phone can run these long tasks as quickly as possible.

my phone is extremely slow and texting is almost impossible.

I have tried every solution suggested, except factory reset. I have tried clearing history, updating apps, minimizing keyboard, search & siri recommendations etc and i have A LOT of storage on my phone. The issue is still not resolved.

It’s been 5 days now. Did anyone’s phone get better after a few more days? I’m hoping the issue resolves itself at this point!

There is no reason why after updating my IPhone to iOS 18 it should be lagging. Especially a phone that is already highly priced.

-Lagging after typing

-Apps not working

-battery issues

Fix it please. This isn’t the first time an update has caused an issue. All these new features are great but the lack of errors and bugs that go unnoticed is just amazing. Well done! We’ll be waiting for the next update patch.

I haven’t even had my iPhone a year and after this update it has been unbearably slow! I am regretting switching to iPhone at this point it’s been nothing but headaches. At least with the android we didn’t get forced to upgrade phones before they’re even paid in full! I have memory I pay for extra storage all that so it’s not a memory issue in my phone.

I am very unhappy about this update? I battle to access apps, and updates on my son's phone to mine.

Would also reccomend in the parent feature that you add block apps including the downtime option.

I actually wiped my phone as I thought I had to many apps?

I did not pay this expensive for an iphone 14 for this kind of update, that causes more issues on a brand new phone

I have the 14 Pro Max.

I just updated to 18.3.1. For one night I was so happy with the cool new display. Then the next morning it was sluggish and slow to texting. VERY disappointed. People joke and tell me that it's time to upgrade my phone.

If this is how iClowns operate in Palo Alto then I'll upgrade alright.

I'll upgrade back to Droid where they don't manipulate you into new hardware.

Fix your **** or this weekend I'm headed back to Droidsville.

The iOS 18 update continues to infuriate as general lagging continues, no matter what task is performed. A big annoyance is emojis aren't populating in the keyboard when typing. To clarify, if I type "smile," the standard smiley emoji used to immediately populate in the suggested text/emoji bar. Now it takes upwards of 5 seconds to populate. This is an eternity when simply wanting to send a message.

I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max. I am utilizing 149GB of my 512GB. There is no way I'll accept the suggestion from Apple that it's "storage related" and to "delete things." It performs more poorly than my previous phone, the iPhone 13 Pro. I had it for several years with no issues. NONE. Now, when I drop a stack of cash on this new phone that's supposed to be the premium, top performing model, it's absolutely maddening to start experiencing major problems such as this after only a few months.

I regularly close apps. I regularly soft reboot the phone. I charge it properly. I remove what I don't need. As an avid Apple product user for decades, I do all the right things.

On behalf of all iPhone users, PLEASE GET THIS FIGURED OUT.

Completely agree

Apple are trying to force people to buy new phones and new devices by rolling out software updates that truck users with false metrics or worse intentionally make their phone run poorly

its a sickening ploy to chase money for a company that already has so much of it, and by doing so disadvantages millions of users who cannot afford an upgrade

my iPhone 11 ran fine until the ios18 update and the moment I installed it my camera app no longer worked it turned off my external facing camera and also my flashlight no longer works

Apple have acknowledged this is a common issue of the ios18 but are doing nothing to help me resolve it
