I do NOT like what Apple did to the Photos in iOS 18... I can not find the Camera Roll. Closest is Recent Days, but it does not show all the pictures that were on the Camera Roll. I have to use a third party app on my PC to see the photos. I think Apple screwed up somewhere. Come on Apple, put Camera Roll back the way it used to be and the way it should be.

Your library is the camera roll. What was called "Camera Roll" was changed to "Recents" in a past iOS update (forget which one) and has now dropped that name and is just your Library.
Any picture you take will be in your library, and as such that is your camera roll.
I don't believe there has ever been a separate Camera Roll to the general library. It was just called "Camera Roll" but contained the same things Library does now.
I totally agree - Camera Roll is sacred - I don’t need Apple’s idea of what is important to Me! I have 84,000 photos all in my iphone mostly already categorised in folders which I have specially created and synced.
I don’t want to have to negotiate those albums on my camera roll. Keep it simple Apple as before.

Photos is totally trashed. Bring the old manager back.
cannot easily see all recent photos taken without seeing all photos in all albums. I don’t want to see saved. Nor mixed up with all my album photographs.
if a recent photo is favourited, it still gets deleted in group select deletions.
When a favourited photo is deleted, it also loses its favourite status, making it even harder to find your favourites that got deleted among recent bulk selection.
What a mess!
Is there any other 3rd party app than can manage photos better?
It’s awful. Just awful. I liked having the albums tab, the library where everything is date ordered but also the camera roll where it’s all sorted by date added. The tabs kept it clean and easier to manage. It also meant I could view a photo in an album but also then see it in the library. The new layout is suffocating and so annoying.

mine took a couple days and finally completed, supposedly does it at night when on the charger. I had another issue also, all my synced pictures would show like they were on the map function, but when you clicked down they weren’t there. Currently working with Apple tech on that one. Gave them lots of info and engineering reviewing it if anyone is having a similar issue. It’s just my synced pictures having the issue.

This is good info, thanks. I suspected something like that was going on.
I'm assuming that Microsoft Photos interacts with this database where Windows Explorer does not.
I noticed something interesting though, when I delete photos using MS photos, they are gone from the library on my phone but they do not appear in the recently deleted folder.

The same thing happens if I import photos from my iPhone to the Mac Photos app via the Mac Finder. Mac Photos allows one to specify whether the imported photos should be deleted from the iPhone. To my shock, I've discovered that if one specifies that they should be deleted, they do not appear in the iPhone's Recently Deleted album. I don't know whether this behaviour is new to iOS 18.

Yeah, the Photos app needs the Camera Roll back. The way it's set up now makes no sense at all. Why are just two of the photos I took today only showing up in Recent Days but not in the Library where the rest of the photos I took today are showing up??? Why doesn't it just put them all in the same place now?
I can do nothing in the photo app now. All o can access is all my photos at once in a grid five photos wide. None of the buttons work. I cannot delete photos. I cannot upload photos. None of the buttons work. I can switch from Years to Months.

The overall update is amazing, however this picture, album, favorites, movie chaos is the worst move I've seen apple do in an upgrade. I literally can't even find a video that was taken last night. Everything is scrambled and is a serious pain to deal with. With hundreds of thousands spent on apple products, I've never had an issue and love the company but being a long time apple person, its rare to see such a drastic bad move on something so functional, efficient for user ability. Bring it back Apple!
Please bring back our Camera Roll. I can't go thru 27,000 pics to find a picture I chose not to sync to my Mac. Please update this app to include the camera roll asap. If I had known this before,I would have never updated my phone.
i know I complained about this before , but the camera roll being gone , along with import photo option is a major problem. How long does it take typically for apple to resolve something like this ? I thought the last update they may have fixed it but nope !
OMG, my photos are a mess. I offload all my pics, create subfiles for them, and then sync them back using itunes. Now all of my recent and 'unorganized' photos, which was around 100, are scrambled in a block of over 2000 pics and I can't find anything I more than about a week old. PLEASE bring back the camera roll!! My only other choice will be to offload all of organized pics.
