iPhone battery draining after iOS 18 Update

In my case, from a battery that held 1.5 days now holds 0.5 days. Overnight the battery can drop 20% when the phone is idle. I updated it for the release of iOS 18 so waiting a few days for iOS to finish its post-installation processes did nothing. In addition, during these 10 days, the condition of my battery dropped by 3%. A fresh install didn't help either. This is not normall.

After installing iOS 18, my iPhone 11 battery started draining very quickly. Overnight, it drops from 100 to 80 percent, and throughout the day, even with minimal phone use, the battery drains significantly. That's only half the problem. Navigation in maps started behaving strangely. For example, the map shows I’m moving in the right direction, but the pointer indicates that I'm facing the opposite way, as if I’m walking backwards. It’s unclear who tests these updates before release, but this one is definitely a failure. Or is the company pushing us to buy a new phone this way?

Mine doesn't just die faster, it takes F O R E V E R to charge. It's been on the mag charger since 6:00 this morning - it's now 2:13 pm and I'm only at 43% - I will throw this phone in the trash and switch to Samsung - I'm not doing this garbage. The watch, the phone, the airpods - in the trash - this feels like the same garbage they got in trouble for before - screwing up phones to force you into buying the new model. I'm not doing it anymore.

Dear @apple please help us fix this thing. My iPhone 15 pro max drains so fast after upgrading to iOS18 and this is so frustrating. Never carried a battery power bank before upgrading to iOS18. Now gotta carry whereever I go. Thank you for acknowledging this Cheers.

Since I did the IOS 18 my phone, IPad and watch do not even hold a charge for a day. My watch use to get 2 days before charge, now it’s half a day if that. My IPad only gets 2 hours before it’s from 100 to 10% I use to get at least a day on it and my phone forget about it, it’s now always on the charger. Every single time there is an IOS update it always messes with my phone. I’m seriously thinking of going back to Android. I never had these issues with them. And there are way to many IOS updates in a year.

updated on ios 18 in 3 days. And the battery drain is terrible.

charging a brand new phone 2x a day is absolutely ridiculous. My old iphone 13 battery with health on 90% and ios 17 drains less.

i dont knownif i should wait for few days and just straight up replace the battery or return the phone.

I now have a very expensive paperweight! Battery has drained by 30% in the last 2hrs and I’ve only used it for 15mins in that time! I’ve tried all the tips and tricks to speed it up after an update but none have worked! Thanks Apple you are the best!

Shut it 3rd world tech support. You people keep repeating this same song and dance instead of hearing other people's issues. IOS has been a DEI induced garbage fest for a year now and something in the code keeps pegging the SoC like the woke devs peg each other. This is annoying and not befitting a phone that costs over thousand dollars.

The battery is draining almost 66% faster than before the update. Advice to wait or do a clean install of the phone did nothing. It's been 12 days since the release of ios18 and still the problem is not solved.

Lots of people including myself want to switch to android iPhones are not cheap and should not have to deal with things like this one spending good money on my phone that always has problemsAnd battery dying faster than it took to charge The money we spend on these phones they should be lasting us at least A day and a half to a day

My iPhone 14 is draining its battery like **** after ios 18 update and even the performance has reduced. Before the update the battery used last for a day, now i have to charge it twice a day. Its a serious concern for all the users , apple please bring a solution with the next update asap

Did they give you any indication of when they might get around to doing this? I often wonder how well they test these upgrades before releasing them. There’s a significant amount of people that are affected by this issue. How can Apple miss something this big?

This issue started just after iOS 18 update. Is there a way to switch back to iOS 17 temporarily till new update releases?

I have noticed a significant degrade in battery health of my new iphone 15 bought in april, even after using it will all precautions. My iphone health has dropped down very fast even having less count cycles than my friend’s iphone i have less maximum capacity than her.

Same here. I left it off the charger last night and it had 82% when I went to bed. I woke up with 31%. On iOS 17 and below, I would lose 5-8% during an overnight. I checked email and news and now, an hour after picking it up, I’m down to 16%. This is really unacceptable.
