Cannot Update iOS 18 to the iPad Pro 13”

The IPadOS 18 update has been pulled by Apple, yesterday 9/17/24. The update was "bricking" many users Ipads, rendering them unusable, and needing to be replaced. I currently have a brand new current gen Ipad Pro that I can't activate because of this issue.

Until they amend the issue causing the error and push the new update you will not be able to verify the update and install it.

I am in the same predicament as you. New Ipads seem to only have IPadOS 18 available. Until Apple releases an amendment to fix the update, your Ipad will be unusable. This is a known issue, and I can only assume Apple is working as quickly as possible to fix it.

Unless recommended otherwise by tech support or you simply don't want to wait for the update. You should be fine to hold on to your current Ipad and simply wait for the update.

I updated my Pro 12 no problem but the option to upgrade to 18 isn’t even showing up on my Pro 13.

Got mine yesterday. Could not verify. Couldn't even verify 17.7. Not bricked, however. Spoke to tech support that couldn't help either. Gotta send it back.

Late but...the day after, I saw that 17.7 was still available and tried again and it worked fine. I guess we'll just have to wait for 18.

Issue resolved: Apple just started rolling out the (fixed) iOS 18.0.1 update to iPad Pro. Refresh your Software Update screen and you should hopefully see it.

iPadOS 18 has been removed for M4 iPads until an issue is resolved.
