Why can't I schedule messages to Android users on iPhone?

As someone who switched to Apple a few years back, I was incredibly excited for the “send later” function (which other brands have had for ages). I update my phone yesterday and go to schedule a message to someone who has an android and realize the functionality only applies to other iPhone users?! Please tell me this is a bug or a glitch?!

All of us would recommend to get whatever phone meets your needs. It makes no difference to anyone here. If the only determining factor on your phone purchase is to send later to Android phones, then you should get an Android phone, as that is currently not possible. For me, that is not a feature that I have ever used since it was recently launched less than 6 months ago to send messages later to iPhones. Check with your cell provider as many are offering free phones on trade in.

the feature doesn’t pop up as an option for non-iPhone users. I use this feature for work to schedule messages. For other iPhone users, the “send later” option pops up as an option. For android users, the option of “send later” is not present when I click on the plus sign

Yes, that's an accurate observation. The feature is currently only available for iMessage users.

Being an ex android user for 10 years plus I
Decided to switch to the iOS eco system. I was really excited to hear the announcement of the feature “schedule Message” but to my disappointment it only works iPhone to iPhone. Apple needs to change this. Pointless otherwise, not everybody uses iOS

Have you told Apple how you feel?

Upset I can’t schedule later to avdroids wow

You might have missed the link to send feedback to Apple if the feature to schedule messages to avdroids is something you would like to see. Apple has no idea how you feel posting on a user to user support site. If there was a solution that could be provided to enable the feature, then it would find it here. Sorry, but this is your only option for now.

I’ve been an android user forever. My son convinced me to switch to an iPhone. It’s been about three weeks and I still don’t understand why people think it’s better. This is just another example of something. My android did that my iPhone doesn’t.

People who switch from iPhones to Androids have the same problem. There are things iPhones do that Android phones don't. The same thing happens when switching from Mac to Windows (or vice versa). It's all what you get used to.

To @IdrisSeabright: I'd been using RCS on my previous Android's default messaging for years. I don't think mine was special in any way. Sometimes Apple users' defenses of Apple's choices, omissions, feature fails, and refusal to play well with others, feels a little cult-like. Apologies if that's not you. It's definitely not me.

If you've been using Google's messaging app, then yes, RCS will work on your Android. But I'm not sure what that has to do with the price of bananas. Apple, for some very good reasons, chose not to implement Google's version of RCS. Whether that turns out to be the right decision or not is something that only time will tell.

Personally, I don't understand the fuss. I've been using SMS with Android users (and iPhone users who chose not to use iMessage) for years with no issue.

So is there a response from Apple here?? I am not seeing anything. Am I missing something? Are they radio silent on this?

This is a user-to-user technical support forum. Apple, with very limited exceptions for matters of health or safety, doesn't participate here. This is explained in the Terms of Use to which we all agreed when we registered.

If you want to discuss your issue with Apple, you can use the Support link at the bottom left of every page of these forums.

Tip: Don't use the Code Insertion function to post. It makes it hard to read. Just start typing in the box without using any of the icons at the bottom.

I’m also frustrated about another feature that doesn’t cross over to other phones. Sending a scheduled text is exactly what I need to use in a lot of situations and I can only do this with other iPhones?

You should let Apple know how you feel:
