iOS 18 bug in Apple Music app

This worked for me too. Settings, Accessibility, Vocal Shortcuts - Turn off. I restarted my iPhone twice to get the "off" setting to stick. Issues with Apple Music and Pandora on Apple Car Play ios 18 resolved.

Guys I figured out the issue. As soon as I turned off vocal shortcuts the bug stopped.

My friends, a smart soul discovered the simple fix! It took me a week to get to this, and I nearly went mad with all the solutions I tried, but here it is, as mentioned elsewhere in this thread: TURN OFF VOCAL SHORTCUTS. This will resolve 95% of the problem. There still may be a slight pause when turning off the display, but you can now open other apps and put Spotify or YouTube, etc. in the background seamlessly. So my vocal shortcuts were never active. However I contacted Apple today and my issue is now resolved by deleting a VPN that was on my phone (that I never used )

omg thank you so much i updated my phone like last week and was messing around with settings idk why, and after i turned off vocal shortcuts it solved my problem so thank youuuu

So for me, vocal shortcuts was not the issue…my issue is fixed now as Apple had me delete a VPN that was on the phone but I did not use.

I spoke with Tech Support on Sat - well first they said it wasn't a tech support problem but a Music subscription problem and transferred me, and I was like, "uh....no it has nothing to do with subscriptions! It's all related to ios 18!" - the person at Subscriptions transferred me back to tech support and they admitted it's an ios 18 flaw and hopefully there will be an update released this week to fix everything...if that's believable! Hahaha!

I had the same issue, I wanted a way to quickly turn on the flashlight. Thought it would be great to just say “Flashlight On”. But, then my music would stop for a brief moment every time I closed/opened the display. Now I just need to decide if this frequent disturbance is worth the benefit of vocal shortcuts.

Nope, my Vocal Shortcuts ain’t even set up yet. Still experiencing the same thing as others have; skipping and random stops. I do sometimes get luck from cleaning RAM with the Device Monitor 2 app. I’m on an iPad 9th 64GB

I have a similar issue after updating to iOS 18 song won’t play at all in Apple Music will toggle to pause by itself I noticed if you pick around 20 seconds into the song it will play, but if it goes to the next song it goes crazy and starts skipping sometimes it will pick a song and will play. I noticed someone said turn off vocal shortcuts but after checking setting I don’t even have it setup. Need fix tried swiping out and restarting phone

I contacted Apple support, and they advised me to reset all settings, which I did. Unfortunately, the issue still persists as you described. We're definitely losing our subscription money due to a problem we've never encountered before. I hope they release an update to fix this soon.
