IOS 18 Apple Music Keeps Crashing

Since upgrading to IOS 18, Apple Music keeps crashing on both iPad and iPhone. I open the music app, start a song to play, it plays for about a minute then crashes.

Is Apple aware of this as it is happening to a lot of users who have upgraded to IOS 18? Tried all the obvious fixes, such as shut down iPad and iPhone and restart but no joy.

Apple needs to fix this A.S.A.P. particularly for Apple Music subscribers!

This is also happening to a friend of mine who has all his music on the iPad and iPhone, rather than streaming and it still crashes.

I’m on iOS 18.0.1 and today my 15 Pro Max suddenly kept crashing multiple times after one song played or if I started a song and wanted to skip ahead to another in my custom playlist. Strangely my 12 Pro Max, which is also on iOS 18.0.1 was perfectly fine playing songs on Apple Music.

What worked for me was clearing the history within Apple Music (drag down from the now playing screen and you should see the previously played songs). After doing this, Apple Music worked as normal and I could skips songs without the app crashing.

I tend to listen to the same playlist on repeat so I wonder if it caused some sort of memory corruption.

For me Apple Music would run fine for a while and then it just stops when the final song ends. Lock screen freezes on 0:00 point of the last song, there's a pause button instead of play button so the system seems to think it's still playing music, but when I unlock and go to the Apple Music app it's showing me the song that was playing when I locked the phone instead of the last one as if it crashed.

The only thing I can do is manually swipe away the Apple Music app and then restart it, but when I do the song before the last one plays again as if the last song didn't happen at all. This always happens, sometimes after only three songs, sometimes it goes on for over an hour or something, but ultimately ends up in its frozen state. Been like this since the day one of ios 18 and it's pretty annoying.

I'll be listening to music, go the change the song, and the screen is stuck on a song I was recently listening to. Then it crashes... It's been happening to me for over a month and they still haven't fixed it... Spotfiy really does look better every day.

Also my battery has been getting depleted with the new update, shocker.. Wohoo Apple.

Every time I try to add song to one of my playlists! I’m able to add two and then it crashes and then if I try to add a created playlist to another created playlist! It crashes and I have a huge playlist that I play on the way to work and half way there it crashes if I skip too many songs, this is all from the software upgrade to 18.1 and my battery life has went down as well

Mine crashes only on some Bluetooth devices, but not all, and not over Airplay devices. It works fine on my Bluetooth Carplay adapter, but will crash on Bluetooth on my gym sound system.

It will freeze the screen, finish the song and keep playing, but I'm unable to pause/play/skip etc without closing and re-opening the app. I use the app as a fitness instructor and it's so disruptive to have to do this during class. Usually, I will only have to do this once in an hour long class, and after that I can pause and select tracks as needed.

I checked Vocal Assist settings and mine aren't even set up. Let me know if there are any other fixes to try!

Similar problem. My music collection is resident on my phone - I'm not listening via any streaming services. Apple Music crashes after a few moments and won't reopen until I restart the phone. Then rinse and repeat.

This is adding insult to injury, after all the woes of Sonos, which no longer plays my curated Apple Music playlists. I have my own library of music, but I can't play it anywhere. Time for me to go back to physical media. Where's my CD player?

my apple music was working fine when i got the update until recently i would say a week? the song skips perfectly fine but when i wanna skip it, it sort of stays on the song but the app freezes for minute but keeps playing the song so when i exit the app, it has the song it previously was playing.

it also freezes on the control center when i wanna skip the song so i have to exit the app to restart it to work again.

I deleted all of my downloads & then re-added them when the problem first presented itself after the IOS 18.0 & 18.01 update. It was not successful in correcting the issues. I am extremely disappointed & irritated. I hope they have a resolution with the IOS 18.02 update. We as customers pay too much money for Apple Music Subscription for it to be worthless, unreliable & useless. Apple, IPhone, IOS etc. have existed for far too long to have issues like we are experiencing.

I’ve been having issues with Atmos audio and lossless audio on my Apple TV 4K. Many times, when I’m listening to a song in Dolby Atmos/lossless, it stops abruptly about 30-50 seconds before it ends and doesn’t finish the song. I’ve noticed that when I switch to just lossless and disable Dolby Atmos, the problem goes away. On the other hand, when I switch to just Dolby Atmos and disable lossless, the song plays perfectly. I haven’t noticed any issues with my iPhone or AirPods Pro 2—it’s just with my Apple TV 4K. All my devices are updated to the latest versions, including the paired HomePods. I’ve even rebooted and reinstalled tvOS 18 on my Apple TV 4K, but the issue persists.
