Apple Music issues after iOS 18 Update

I’ve had the same experience many of you are having since the update to IOS 18. App constantly crashes, it takes a long time to add new songs to a playlist, it doesn’t alert you an album has already been added to a playlist, even when it goes to the next song the previous song is still displayed. Hopefully this is fixed soon.

I’ve been experiencing the same thing. Whenever I attempt to edit a playlist, Apple Music crashes and my phone becomes unusable for up to 5 minutes as it’s completely frozen. Seriously hope they fix this. It’s really invigorating

ever since i updated to ios 18 i’ve had issues of my playlists not being fully played, the repeat button not working everytime i press shuffle, and a song will start playing but it doesn’t say it’s playing and the pause button won’t work and if i force quit the app the music will still play for like 5-10 seconds before stopping

Yes! I am finding that ITunes on my IPhone SE keeps crashing. It will play a song for about 90 seconds and then shut down. I’ve tried closing the app and shutting down and restarting my iPhone, but to no avail. I have also noticed that my phone gets very warm to the touch ever since updating to iOS 18.

Yup, same here. App crashes when I try to scroll through an active playlist. Everything was fine before iOS 18 update. I initially thought it was my car when using CARPLAY but have duplicated the symptom using my phone. Hoping for a fix ASAP by Apple.

My Music app is become very laggy. It takes time to play a song and not connect to the airplay device immediately. Needs multiple retries for every song to play. Becoming such a pain every time to do this.

I’ve noticed that playlists over a certain amount of songs is where the app bugs out the most. You can’t search for a song in the playlist properly without it taking a couple of seconds to buffer. Songs will just randomly stop and will get skipped and then the app crashes. Not related but this new update drains my battery super fast. Any tips?

I am seeing multiple issues. Duplicate downloads across the majority of my library that I had to spend hours cleaning up. lost content. Also access to content that was part of the library before but is no longer available. Very aggravating! Syncing across my devices is very sporadic and inconsistent from device to device. there were also big changes to what you can maintain from the drop down selection of features, like album art. all in all this was a miserable update to Apple Music and I will be moving to my TIDAL account permanently. Disappointing by aPPLE standards to say the least!

Another thing...and this is also aggravating to no end. the dynamic album art feature defaults to an incorrect album cover. Case in point Van Halen II and Women and Children First shows dynamic album art from Van Halen The collection. And I haven't seen where you can defeat dynamic album art anywhere. UGH! Apple got it all wrong for Music on this latest iOS update I am afraid. FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!

I’m sorry I updated to iOS 18. I only updated because my AirPods 4 wouldn’t show up in “Find My” until I updated all my devices.

After the iOS 18 update, I’m having issues with Apple Music: songs fade out halfway through or they stutter; I cannot update playlists and the app freezes. It is very frustrating. I understand there are problems when there’s an update, but Apple has received enough complaints to do something to fix the problems they created.

The issue I am having with iTunes is some of my purchased music and songs are no longer available and some I can’t play because it’s not authorized. Didn’t have any issues like this with ios17. Spoke with tech support for three hours on Saturday to no avail. I am getting a call back on Wednesday.

I haven’t had issues with audio quality, but I have had issues with music disappearing and not being playable. For example, I had an entire album downloaded to my phone and songs 3-6 are just gone now. The only way I can play them is through apple music, not my library. I have also had it being funky with the queue.

Today is the first time I play music after iOS 18 update and my compilation albums now are sorted by artist instead of by song title as it used to be. There is no way I can change the sorting back and playback stops randomly, so I have to restart the app to continue playing.

The reason I have compilation albums is to avoid listening to the same artist back to back and I am not a fan of shuffle play, as I have memorized the order of my songs and they need to remain in the same order. I have to stop mid-workout routine and turn off the music. Apple must fix this nonsense.

I contacted Apple support, and they advised me to reset all settings, which I did. Unfortunately, the issue still persists as you described. We're definitely losing our subscription money due to a problem we've never encountered before. I hope they release an update to fix this soon. I encourage everyone to reach out to Apple support and report any issues as they arise; this will help prioritize their fixing efforts.
