Apple Music issues after iOS 18 Update

Has anyone experienced issues with Apple Music in iOS 18? For example, audio quality lowered despite Dolby Atmos and EQ off? Or trying to scroll through your playlist and the app crashes?

Me. So thankful to find someone else with this issue. My Apple Music has been almost unusable since the upgrade to iOS 18. Crashes when scrolling a playlist, crashes when trying to remove songs from a playlist. Won’t let me edit larger playlist. Also freezes a lot, is super slow, and the audio quality has decreased. I have been on basically a 4 day phone call with a Apple Senior Adviser about this and they can’t figure it out, plus they say nobody else besides me has reported to them issues with Apple Music on iOS 18. Which is hard for me to believe. The tech is calling me back tomorrow with what his bosses said about the screen recordings i sent them showing my issues. I’ve done every troubleshooting step they can think of except reinstalling iOS 18. I hope they can figure it out cause it’s annoying me to no end not being able to use my music.

Yes Oldoiler - they removed my post. I can see they edited yours as well. I'm really not sure what I said wrong in my post that caused them to remove it - nor the previous post by Allezrider too.

All I really wanted to say is that whoever has a determination to attempt to get the company to fix stubborn issues should appeal via the Feedback page (easily found if you search for it via your favourite search engine). Reports collated via that page are actually taken into account, so there is more chance of a fix if everyone reports bugs etc in that manner.

Hope that helps. Also hope this post doesn't get deleted as well........

Yeah, it's almost unusable, especially if I want to play music stream for a long time as something goes wrong quickly.

  1. I start a playlist and it scrolls through songs without playing
  2. goes to next song and no sound
  3. Airplay is a mess, homepods start making a loud 'repeating' sound as though it's a vinyl record or CD stuck at a certain point.
  4. Homepods keep disconnecting while Airplay through Sony receiver continues
  5. Airplay goes out of sync from one speaker to another
  6. Restarting constantly does not fix issues
  7. I start an album, it starts loud then halfway into a song, the sound drops a lot.
  8. Playlist skips tracks for no reason

I could go on. So much Apple software is no longer "it just works" .... grrrr

Two problems surfaced since installing v 18 1 wk ago:

  1. Using AirPlay on iPhone15 to play song and Album Artwork from iTunes playlist onto a smart TV, the Album Artwork projection on TV is noticeably SMALLER in center of TV screen. Gives appearance it has been crammed in a box.
  2. Using CarPlay with a high end music system in car, the Audio quality is significantly inferior after v18 update. The sound is ‘raspy’ and broken up. Totally UNACCEPTABLE. Was on phone with 4 level Apple Tech support and they could not fix problem. Suspicion is Apple made decisions to compromise features to balance ‘streaming overhead’.
