CarPlay freezing after iOS 18 update
Periodically, but fairly frequently, CarPlay freezes. Often when switching between listening to a book using Libby and a map either google maps or Apple Maps.

I called Apple Support, and they were not helpful. They suggested that I take the car to the car dealership. I verified that another iPhone running iOS 16.X works perfectly in my 2019 Camaro.
The phone without working CarPlay in the 2019 Chevy Camaro will work on a 2020 Chevy Silverado, which has wired CarPlay with a USB-C Lightning Cable.
Multiple fixes that did NOT WORK:
I assume resetting the phone to factory defaults and using an older iOS will resolve the problem. I am extremely frustrated with the poor quality of iOS updates starting with version 17. I will switch to an Android phone if Apple cannot resolve continued CarPlay issues and buggy updates.

I’m having the same issue with my 2019 Chevy Camaro 2ss. Worked fine then I installed iOS 18 and once I plug my phone in it’ll load up but a few seconds later it freezes and completely restarts my radio screen. I don’t think it’s an issue with my car because it only started happening after I installed iOS 18, not before.
Having the identical problem with my 2019 ZL1 Camaro after updating to IOS 18 & 18.01. Worked perfectly on IOS 17
I’m having same issue I have a 2019 Chevy Colorado. My CarPlay worked perfectly fine and then I installed this update now every single time I plugged my phonr in and it switches to CarPlay. It freezes up and then restart my whole system and everything. my USB drive my dash cam everything so annoying. I’ve reinstalled blue tooth Done all the things that they’ve asked me to do so annoying how do I go back to the previous patch?
I’m having the exact same issues on my 2019 GM. I’m also having an addition to the CarPlay issues and issue with my Apple AirPods connecting. Not sure if anyone else is experiencing the same.
I own a 2019 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab and it’s doing the same thing. I took it to the dealership and they put in a brand new infotainment radio and it did not solve the issue. I plugged in my wife’s IPhone 11 with the older IOS and no issues there. I was actually able to use the CarPlay without having to worry about it resetting. My friend who works at the dealership as a mechanic told me that Chevy’s radio is not Apple friendly. So either Chevrolet or Apple need to solve this issue. It’s frustrating.
Same issue here with iPhone 12 and iOS 17.7 to 18 update.
I have the same problem with my 2019 Chevy Colorado pick up
My iPhone 11 on iOS 18 actually worked after the update. But I recently upgraded to a 16 on iOS 18.1.1 and CarPlay won’t worked wired at all. Wireless connects once every ten tries but constantly disconnects and cuts out.
Waze keeps freezing in carplay. Dealer just installed latest update for car, tried numerous different cables and different different ports. The longer I drive the more it freezes. You end up missing turns and information from the GPS. Tried to not listen to podcasts, but made no difference. Rebooted phone. Have lastest IOS installed. It worked fine until the last IOS update.
Downgraded to 17.6 and the issue is resolved although the data loss is beyond frustrating.
2019 Camaro ZL1
I went back to 17.6 and the issue is resolved.
How do I go back to 17.6?
Make good
