Video Playback on iOS 18 is Broken - Video size is small and timeline ends early when setting video to full frame or zooming in. Serious bug.

I really love the scrubber feature and it's very useful for me: I some times record very long (e.g. 30+ min ) videos of me doing sports, then later trying to cut out shorter ones to pose on social media. In iOS18 it's very very hard to control / fast forward/backward during the playback.

I take slow mo videos of myself when I go to the Driving Range so I can watch my swing. I have a video that won’t play at all when I try to fast forward. It freezes and then my photos won’t work. When I edit the video the timestamp scroller won’t update the frame so I can’t make edits at all because I have no idea what’s happening in the video. I also can’t shorten it to as a new video, I get an error message whenever I try

The fact that this made it to production is purely idiotic. The UI and UX is horrible

The fact that there is this much feedback across so many users and not patches have been put out should be fireable imo

I’ve never seen such an obvious and pronounced regression from an “update” for anything in my entire life

I hate this new interface so much. I liked being able to see my albums, it was much easier to find what I needed. Now it feels like a needle in a haystack. Screenshots aren’t full screen anymore, the edit button took me a while to find and realize it was the edit button. Really feels like a step backwards. I would switch back to iOS 17 if I could merely because I hate the new photos app so much. I only downloaded 18 in order to have access to the satellite texting in case I needed it due to hurricane Milton devastating Florida. PLEASE bring back the old interface for ios18. I post photos and videos online as a source of income, and this new update has made it SO hard to find and organize what I need.

photo playback is still extremely glitchy. If you scroll. It freezes. Some times you can’t zoom in, or it’ll back out. Hitting edit, is like rolling the dice, you don’t know what issue will come from hitting that button, but something always does. For someone that is constantly working with videos and photos. This is such a headache.

This exact problem has been extremely annoying for me as well. The whole update to the photos app interface has made it far worse and I’m sure most people would agree that having the option to revert the app to it’s pre-iOS18 version would be the best solution.

I also deeply suffer from these serious bugs of video playback. Hopefully Apple would fix them soon, then the new Photos app in iOS 18 can be improved from an irresponsible implementation to a stupid design.

This update is corrupting my footage. After updating my phone I can’t film videos for more than a couple minutes without the footage corrupting . It just freezes and I can’t play it back. I even tried importing it to i movie nothing works. The new photos is terrible I wish I never updated.

The new way of viewing videos in the photos app is terrible. Apple, please fix it or revert it back to how it was before. I am seriously considering switching to an Android device because of this problem; it’s that debilitating for everyday use of my iPhone :(

One other issue effecting videos with the ios 18. When we transfer our .mov videos to our W10/11 computer, they no longer have a thumbnail image, and no longer have video properties. We have hundreds of iphone .mov videos, all with thumbnail images and properties, but post ios 18, all videos have no properties nor images. But, they all play. Apple offers no fix or solutions.

The video playback UI is hands down the worst feature I’ve ever used on any device. Period. Full stop.

Its virtually useless as the timeline doesn’t use any different color to see your place, if you scroll along the the timeline, it somehow shrinks the video time into a fraction of the full video forcing you return to the start. Then anytime I touch it, the screen automatically shrinks back to 70% screen size. OMG, it literally drives me bananas.

Apple - just put it back to normal and leave it.

What on earth have you done to Photo’s and video Apple…? This needs fixing ASAP and frankly… the Multi billions of dollars your making should lead to smart and tangible improvements on the platform. This is atrocious and from what I can see, it appears to be affecting thousands of users. Just do your job please. Surely we’ve paid enough to expect better software.😫
