Lag on DIRECTV Stream since tvOS 18 update despite troubleshooting

Since the update to tvOS18 the lag on DIRECTV Stream has been awful. Live and recorded shows lag, but commercials play fine. I’ve restarted, reset and tried WiFi and Ethernet without resolution. Help me Apple.

Playback issue Hisence smart TV configured with home WiFi network. Works fine. Problem appears when AppleTV 4K box that is configured to use the same network is connected to the TV via HDMI cable. When using native Amazon fireTV OS things still work fine, but when switched to Apple tvOS 26.2 problems appear.Specifically when switching to another video clip in YouTube, the first frame of that video appears, then the screen goes blank for a fraction of the second, after which the video starts playing. Apple TV Ted Lasso Having issues now streaming Ted Lasso. Vid goes a bit further each time but then sound stops and it goes in a very choky mode. watching in NL and via cable internet and apptv app on my TV. No issues with Prime, Netflix so it’s not my network. any ideas?

Mine is also doing the same where it starts out fine, then it gets choppy/laggy and then the audio is out of sync by a good 3 minutes give or take if I let it play to see if it fixes itself. I’ve deleted/reinstalled the app, restarted Apple TV, rebooted my modem/router, checked the cables. Everything that I’ve read as a suggestion, I’ve tried. All other apps work just fine.

Ours was set on 4K SDR with both match contents turned off. I’ll try 4K HRD and see if that fixes anything. Did they say anything about the chroma settings?

Apple uses industry standard codecs, not proprietary ones.

Unfortunately my TV only has SDR so that option won’t work for me. :-(
