How do I fix Bluetooth connection issue on my iPhone 15 Pro Max with iOS 18?

I had the same issue. The issue for me was that I’d run out of Apple cloud storage! I deleted a backup to free space on Apple Cloud and then it worked.

Same problems. Ever since ios18 I cannot connect to my CarPlay on my ATLAS. Bluetooth doesn’t seem to work. The only fix I’ve discovered is plugging the usb or usbc directly to your iPhone. But Bluetooth isn’t working.

I'm having the same problem with ios18, CarPlay and my car. Won't connect. Tried rebooting phone and rebooting the system on my BMW but the car is looking for a bluetooth connection with the phone and cannot find it. Also, when I pair an external speaker to my phone via bluetooth to listen to music, the connection cuts out after several minutes. Have to manually stop the song from playing and start it again and the connection reappears, only to do the same thing several minutes later. Seems there is a problem in ios18 that needs resolving.

I have a brand new iPhone 16 with iOS 18 installed. I started noticing that my Bluetooth wouldn't connect. When I tried to turn it on in Control Center, the icon would be completely greyed out, and nothing would change with tapping.

When I go to my settings, and click on Bluetooth, it freezes the entire Settings app to where I need to hard reset it to get it to be responsive again. Every other setting is clickable, and I'm able to scroll the settings app, but when I click Bluetooth, it's completely locked up.

Restarting my phone fixes it for a little while, but returns after some time.

I was having the same glitchy problem with my Wonderboom 2 speakers since I upgraded to the iPhone 16 Pro Max with ios 18, but when I "forgot" the speaker and then re-connected it, the problem was fixed.

Yes, same for me, same bug with Tesla and iPhone 15 pro max. It works perfectly with our other iPhone 16 Pro Max and 14 Pro Max phones, so this must be some iPhone specific hardware version related bug

For me, most times after I connect my iPhone 15 Pro to any bluetooth device:

• 1-3 minutes after connection, the iPhone randomly disconnects
• a couple of seconds later, the iPhone automatically reconnects

This happens with all bluetooth devices - those that the phone is paired with for a long time as well as those, that the iPhone was only just paired with for the first time.

It happened to me on two different iPhone 15 Pro in the same way.

Since iOS 18 (maybe earlier?), the automatic connection with a bluetooth device doesn't work reliably any more. Half the time I turn on my headphones, the iPhone does not connect with them. Also true for my speaker, the other speaker, etc... (and there is always maximum one device turned on, so it's not 'confusion' caused by many devices)

All suggestions may be temporary fixes. Apple released an iOS update last night. Still didn’t fix it. What the xxxx is wrong with Apple software engineers? I still have to turn off Wifi to maintain the Bluetooth connection.

It’s truly pathetic. It has affected me since iOS 18 update. My bluetooth speakers only work uninterrupted if I switch my wifi off on my iPhone (14). The latest update last night did nothing. Along with their ridiculous photo app rearrangement I’m on the verge of tossing out all my Apple devices. Had enough.

This same issue start happening after ios 18 updates (don't know exactly which one). My iPhone Pro 15 is dropping the bluetooth connection randomly. I have tried all tricks mentioned in this thread without any success. It really looks like a bug in ios 18. It doesn't happen to all devices but it seems my Apple Watch and my car Bluetooth are suffering the same unstable bluetooth connection. My Airpods Pro 2 though don't seem to suffer the same way (maybe it does have a different bluetooth version).

Does anyone know if iphone's hardware test procedure (How to put your iPhone in diagnostics mode - Apple Support) can check if the iPhone bluetooth has an actual hardware problem before I consider visiting Apple store?

I'm having the same issue with my Dexcom CGM beeping at me saying bluetooth connection lost, apple watch not syncing properly, whoop band not pairinng, and AirPods randomly disconnecting when media is playing since updating to stable final release iOS 18.0

After upgrading to iOS 18, my Bluetooth audio cuts out for a second when waking or locking my phone. It happens on multiple Bluetooth devices on multiple different audio apps. The problem is definitely not on my end. I hope they fix this soon!

I'm having the same issue. My Powerbeats pros randomly disconnect and so does the Apple Watch. The watch is updated to ver. 11. I have read to shut off Vocal Shortcuts, but mine was already off. I haven't tried anything else, like disconnecting or anything.

Same as with others. After install of iOS 18, my Beats Studio Buds are constantly disconnecting or stopping playback. Also getting crackling and pauses as if my phone is 30 feet away but right next to me. I’ve tried completely resetting them multiple times and no improvement. Incredibly frustrating and hoping for a fix from Apple. I know it’s the update because I paired to my work phone that is running iOS 17.x and they work perfectly fine.
