After updating to iOS 18, Photo App is not working on my iPhone 14 Pro

I know! Those are exactly my two devices! I am paying the $29 a MONTH for iCloud, so this is extremely frustrating to not have Photos work. It's what I PAY for, and pay a LOT.

I have found that instead of clicking on an Album in the first view where you can scroll over, but clicking on the Album view where they are expanded to list them all rather than scrolling sideways, does seem to work better / more often, but they still need to fix this.

YES! Photos has become SO FRUSTRATING now. Its like it is updating or something. It takes 6-8 closing and reloading of Photos to get Albums to open and work.

Also, Albums are not visible in MANY programs like Facebook, so you organize your photos and then can’t access them to share them.

I have this exact issue on my iPhone 15 pro. Happens when I type w then i trying to search wildlife. It crashes every time. Other searches are fine. It also happens with some other searches too. My MacBook m3 air on Sequoia is doing the same. However my iPad Air 4 on iPad OS 18 is fine.

Absolutely annoyed!! After that dumb update, the photos app totally crashed. It won’t open at all. Can’t access it, and I have tons of pics to use for work. When contacting support, they said to wait ten days for the next update, which should aupposedly fix the problem. Great apple, well done.

Yep. Same issue. Have a 16 Pro Max, 256GB (with only 102GB in use). Today is the first time I’ve had this issue, but it now happens every time I try and use the Photo app. I was trying to edit some photos this morning, and seemed that every time I got to the “brilliance” adjustment, the app would crash. I’ll have to try with different commands to see if I get the same result. I’ve done a hard restart, and even reverted back to a previous iCloud backup. Nothing has worked.

Definitely an issue Apple needs to resolve promptly. Whole reason I bought this phone was the camera and the enhancements to the photo app.

Having exactly the same problem with my iPhone14 on iOS 18. Photos app locking up and eventually crashing when opening up folders containing albums. I see the list of albums contained within the selected folder but the app straight away no longer responds and eventually gets killed. 256Gb model and only using around 85Gb.
