After updating to iOS 18, Photo App is not working on my iPhone 14 Pro

I have a 12 pro, updated to iOS 18, my photo app closes during specific search. I was searching. Disney photos, every Disney search closes the app after hitting the’i’ key (Di) closes app upon entering i. How weird- other searches do not close the app. and the problem doesn’t happen on my xs max. Plenty of room in memory- closed & restart app- powered down & restart device- still happens on 12 pro

the photos app on my iPad Air (latest gen) doesńt work properly, it takes a while to load videos, whatever the resolution. I try to watch a memory or click on a trip video (the ones automatically made by apple) and none of the work properly, they get stuck when coming to an video. This is very frustrating. Anyone else have the same issue? Seems to be working fine on my iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Same problem, my photos app crashes when I try to open. After two restarts, works once or twice then crashes again. I can view photos if I enter camera then click the photos in the corner, but won’t let me on the app as it crashes! Please fix!!!

same here!! i tried everything but my photos app keeps crashing eventhough i restart, turned off, force restart and even reset the settings. Also, i bought iCloud+ because i thought it might help because i have tons of pictures but yeah nothing helps, it still crashes. 😭 Please fix it already.

That doesn't solve the problem, Apple needs to fix this ASAP.

I have no idea how they can make an app that doesn't report a bug but just crashes... they must have hired developers with only 1 year of experience.

I agree I have 36,480 photos and mine randomly freezes and then I have to close and reopen. I can not sort the photos by pressing on it and moving it to where I want it to be. I have a brand new 16 pro in iOS 18 I am Very unhappy. The main reason I bought the phone was for the camera!

I have the exact same problem. Sooooooo annoying and frustrating! When I try to search any word or date in my library of over 20,000 pictures (that was perfectly fine before this miserable update), it will crash over and over again. Sometimes rebooting the phone helps, sometimes it doesn't. But when I depend on rapidly finding and navigating my library....what's the point when it just crashes? Additionally, none of my albums by location are working either...the location (that I have meticulously saved for each photo) is now empty.

Apple: Please fix the photo app, make it simple, useful, and functional like it was before.

This is getting tiring, they spend more time removing posts than fixing the software, and even on 18.0.1, the same thing happens—Photos crashes. Maybe it's time to change the platform and phone manufacturer.

I agree I hate this new iOS 18.1 before my icons in photos was albums etc now I can’t find anything also if I clicked on a photo and then the 3 dots I could choose which photo app to edit photos you can’t do that either ! Worst update ever they need to fix it and put it back how previous version was many of my apps I lost everything in!!

The People and Pets utility no longer works properly with this “upgraded”version of the Photos app. When you see a picture of a dog or cat for example there will typically be a little circle with a question mark so you can identify the pet. Works exactly the same as People face identification. However latest version of app requires the face to be listed in your phone contacts app. My dog does not have a phone or email so the pets functionality is now useless. Thanks Apple. You really should thoroughly test the upgrades of your core apps before releasing them. This app is now so badly broken I will be looking to move to Samsung. Been looking for a reason and Apple has now given me it.

In addition to all the other bugs/errors I’ve posted about, two more problems with Apple Photos app. Can’t remove photos from albums. They momentarily disappear and then reappear. Also can’t add a location. Location can be added but it immediately reverts to have no location. This app is so badly broken. Nothing is working properly. Apple please roll back to previous version that worked for a decade!!!

this is happening to my iphone 12 pro max too right now… i just updated it like a week ago and it was doing fine but suddenly this morning when i opened it, it crashed and then i tried to open it again but it exits after a second opening. pls fix this apple :((

mellah ~ The long process of applying an iOS update to an old iPhone with a weak battery can be the proverbial "straw that broke the camel's back." So...

Does your iPhone 12 Pro Max still have its original battery?

And what's the Maximum Capacity % here?...
