Apple Watch touch screen not working after watchOS 11 Update

I had the same problem. Force reboot did the trick on a series 7. Hold down crown and side button down together until the screen goes dark AND wait for the Apple logo appear. Then you can let go.

There's an update to watchOS (11.0.1) that addresses the touch screen issues. I updated my AW8 and touch screen response is noticeably better.

The problem resolved itself for me when I was able to reboot both watches.

I've updated t 11.0.1 and the problem has not returned.

I had this problem, and it seems to have resolved after changing watch straps to one that is slightly looser. I had noticed the non-responsiveness while exercising, and so perhaps the watch interface with my skin was heating up or becoming sweaty, and rendered the screen unresponsive. I suppose it is possible that there was something else going on with the attachment mechanism for the strap, but I don't know for sure. I just know that it's worked for multiple consecutive days now, without a hard restart. Maybe that will help someone.

My Apple Watch 7 had the same issue. Setting up as a new watch instead of restoring from Backup fixed for me. After that, the issue came back, I just have to do force restart now. My watch running on 11.0.1

Not the perfect solution, but apple inspected the watch and then sent it off to be replaced. Had just upgraded last month, so it was straightforward but still frustrating

I've just had this problem after upgrading to 11.0.1. Apple support suggesting I upgrage to new 11.1 version whichi I'm doing. Hope this fixes the problem.

I'm having the same issues on a series 8 45mm and a SE 3 44 mm.

Have rebooted and unpaired/re-paired but the issue remains. Cannot close workout and could not activate the 'power off' button in the upper right on the Series 8. Difficult to select the correct app in Grid View. It seems to get worse as time passes.

I hope there's a fix that arrives soon.

The issue became permanent after a few hours and every now and then I have to force restart my watch. Now, updated to 11.1. Touch is working for now. It could be because the upgrade is similar to force restart. It can become a permanent issue again. let's see.

I have to agree. I have had this problem with an original Ultra for quite some time now. The hard reset fixes it temporarily, but it comes back. I am on Watch OS 11.2. This should not happen.

I still have Apple Care + so I'll see what Apple has to say.

I just updated my watch to iOS 11.3 and my touchscreen is working now!

the people at their “Genius Bar” are not proficient enough to diagnosed the issue at all!

yup and this battery has dropped from 80 to 68 in less than an hr. called tech support and got "nothing wrong with battery, give it 24 hrs if its still dropping bring it to Apple store (even after me telling him i bought from best buy) 🙄

My Apple Watch Series 6 was working fine on Watch OS10 until I updated to watch OS 11 and now it seems like the touch screen becomes unresponsive at times. The physical button works fine. After a hard reset, the touchscreen works fine again for sometime and after a few minutes the touchscreen freezes. There is no screen protector installed on my watch. Need a better solution on this from Apple rather than teaching us how to reset it / pair -unpair the watch ( done it twice already)

Updated to OS11 on my series 9 and now the touch screen does not work at all. I have tried hard reset, impairing and setting up again but still not working (no screen protector). I let the battery totally drain and started up again but nothing seems to work. It is very frustrating as the watch was working perfectly before the update and is only a few months old. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

So these are my issues on an original Ultra. I find it difficult to draw the screen down to see the notifications, possibly poor screen response. On the complications it used to tell me the weather and sunrise/set times but these now don’t show the details just the title. If you click through they give the details. Precise location etc. is all correctly set. TIA for any useful advice
