So you’re seeing a temperature warning on your screen suggesting the phone needs to cool down before you can continue using it? If no, your phone is NOT overheating. But keep in mind, you likely just set up the phone and for a few days, the phone is working in background to index the millions of bytes of data. And you’re likely doing things on the phone at the same time, like using the camera, which uses the battery harder. Every year, when a new iPhone is launched, people come here in the first few days saying their new phone is overheating, when it’s just working harder initially. Give it several days to let it finish it’s normal housekeeping tasks.
SO if you burn your hand off I guess you're still alive and functional.
I use an Apple silicone phone case. You would think that a product they’ve designed, used as intended, wouldn’t render the device unusable?
You’re missing the whole point
My iPhone 16 is getting very hot even while charging or while simply talking on phone and doing very general stuff like using browser to read news.
I noticed this morning, when I try to capture photos, the camera blacks out or the camera just shuts down and it goes back to the home screen!
In addition to becoming very hot while at rest, the camera is essentially unusable. Once I open the camera app and hit the button to take a photo the screen goes black and the camera app quits.
Me too the second I turned the camera on to record a 10 second video of my daughter doing gymnastics. The front screen and the back of the phone are so hot. I can’t even touch it.
Make sure you have apple intelligence turned on by going to settings then apple intelligence & Siri and then long press the side button to activate apple intelligence. That solves the problem.
My new iPhone 16 Pro Max overheats when charging and when camera is in use. I then see the message “iPhone needs to cool down” and then I am unable to use the device

Any suggestions on what to do? Just got my 16 pro max yesterday and my phone gets super hot to touch when charging and using or when the camera is open.

Phone gets hot while doing anything and the battery drains quicker compared to the iPhone 15 pro max I had. Overheats while charging too.
Mine gets really really hot to touch. Doesn’t shut down but the camera occasionally just goes black so I shut it down and open it back up. Anyone been to have theirs looked at yet?
