Verizon is blocking prepaid users from buying phones at Apple.com

I was trying to buy an iPhone 16 through Apple.com and got the following message "We’re sorry. We can’t find your account information with Verizon. Please verify your Wireless Number and try again." Apple says it's a Verizon issue and of course Verizon is saying it's Apple. Let me just preface by saying I've always been a prepaid user through Verizon (with auto pay from day one) and I upgraded my iPhone 12 to iPhone 14 in October 2022 through Apple.com and didn't have any issues.

I've chatted online and over the phone with Verizon 5 times and they are saying my account is okay, but when I view my account at Verizon's website is says "Your account is inactive because you have missed a payment. You need to fund all lines on your account to reactivate your service."  how to fix it.

Sorry to hear about the problems, but this is something Verizon needs to address. There's little or nothing any of us here, who are all just fellow users, can do about your issue. All I can suggest is that you keep pushing Verizon, asking to escalate the issue to a supervisor if necessary. You could of course buy an iPhone from Apple without involving Verizon, making sure you get an unlocked iPhone ("use with any carrier") but whether you'd then have complications getting it activated with your account with Verizon I don't know, though I'd be nervous.

Regards.
