My iPhone 16 pro max has a delayed response to the touch and it’s also skipped my touch inputs. It’s mostly happening with the keyboard and the back button on top.
I do have a glass screen protector installed but have seen a lot of other people complaining without the screen protector.
It’s a very wide spread problem.

I initially bought the Ailun screen protectors on Amazon, and immediately after the phone was not as responsive, and I figured it’s because my fingers were cold at the time. After a day of use, I removed the protector the the problem went away.
i subsequently bought QHOHQ screen protectors on amazon, and same unresponsive problem.
Then I bought the expensive Zagg protector, while it was better, it still was not up to part and I removed it!
They probably. won’t be able to fix it. The phone launched over half a year ago. This is more than likely a hardware defect across a large number of them. And if that’s the case, no software update will fix it.
I started having the touch screen problems about three weeks ago. I bought my phone in September '24. It started with the phone's upper right corner return prompt in imessage. Now it has extended to messenger. Sometimes now the "send" arrow does not function readily in message. This is a widespread malfunction on the iphones. Apple should be responsible for finding a fix or replacing our phones. I got rid of the iphone 14 pro max because of battery overheating and battery health issues. I went to Samsung and really enjoyed the Ultra 24. However, their message keyboard prediction is really bad and so i decided to give Apple another try. Can these phones be replaced under warranty?
Well, if you were in the return window which is generally the first 10 days you could get a new device and check its display no questions asked. In today’s date unless the Apple tech support finds some kind of fault with your phone, you won’t get it replaced.
It was working fine without the glass screen protector, but after installing it, it became very unresponsive.
It's a wide spread issue got to do with some software bug. Its been talked about in a lot on other forums.
I just did the update and it fixed slightly for me but some parts and sometimes the screen still isn’t responsive. Anyone having that issue?
Yeah, can't hit the search spyglass in portrait orientation in the youtube app.
I guess, I'm returning it, I'm guessing it's a hardware issue, if they haven't been able to fix it with an update.
I am having the same issue on my end with my 16 Pro Max. I have tried everything and even switched screen protector brands. I even tried it without the screen protector and although it was not as bad as with the screen protector, there still was some issues with the screen responsiveness.
I have same issue . The keyboard touch responsiveness is TERRIBLE . I feel like I’m having to type harder on my phone compared to typing on my iPhone 14 max . I’ve wasted two screen protectors ( one from
verizon and one from Amazon) thinking it was because of it .
I am going to stay away from updating as god knows how many more bugs will creep up and from what I read on other forums is not addressed on this version. I am not allowed to post links on this community but you can read on MacRumors forum. There is a dedicated link to touch screen issues for the iPhone 16 pro max which people are facing.

I just got the iPhone 16 pro max yesterday and i am updated to IOS 18.2 and I’m having that same issue too but I see that some people had it fixed a month ago after 18.1 so curious to see if anyone else is still having this issue and what would you recommend I do? Thanks
Although I was able to successfully complete this many times in a row (meaning normal behavior), I did encounter what you're talking about. At some point, I believe the backspace button becomes unresponsive for a split second or two. So I'm noticing the problem most when backspacing to correct errors as I type.
I guess we will have to wait for 18.1.1 or any two decimal number update to fix this issue as apple resolves bugs in these updates and comes out with major feature updates in single decimal numbers like the 18.1 or 18.2, so hopefully they come out with this sooner rather than later.
Ok, good for you but why did you go for a screen replacement and not a device replacement? A lot of us got the phone checked at Apple Store and there was no hardware issues so we don’t know where we stand and are living with an expensive junk.
Hoping a future software update can sort this out.
I just got a 16pro max yesterday and I immediately noticed how terrible the touch response is compared to the 14 pro. I want to return it; it's that bad. This was supposed to be an upgrade, and it has been anything but.
