IOS 18 and group messages with android users

iPhone 13 Promax on Tmobile on IOS18. Group texting with 4 others and one is android. All the text responses on the group text come to me individually. So if a person replies to the group, it looks like they are texting me directly. Group messaging to iPhone users are fine. Had this issue before. Tmobile had me do all the toggling for mms and iMessage. And then a network reset. If this does not fix, then I’m supposed to go to Apple support. Frustrating. Was working fine on ios17.x and just started back up on ios18.

This issue has also been happening to me. I have a 14 pro, on iOS 18 and have Verizon as my carrier. It started happening as soon as I started using the new RCS feature :-( I was super excited to be able to do reactions with my android friends too! Is the person being kicked out of the group text specifically a Samsung user for y'all? I will say the person in my group text who is a pixel user has never been kicked out. Curious if it’s Samsung messaging specific.

I was hopeful the update would fix the issue but as soon as I turned RCS back on, it split my group chats again and I had to turn it back off. I’m over it. I made it this long with my android chats and no RCS.

I am the one with a Pixel and get kicked out. It is not a Samsung thing it is all Androids. Texting with RCS to individuals works fine but as soon as it is a group Apple loses its mind. Hopefully the new update fixes this as all my family is on Apple.

What carrier. I have been trying with Xfinity and they swear everything is configured correctly. Apple support elevated my ticket, but then came back and said it was my carrier. I then called my Xfinity back and their network engineers kicked the problem back to Apple.

Same problem but all four of us are on iPhones. Constantly reduces me to read only on the chat. If another member takes me off and puts me back on again I get read and write access for roughly 90 minutes before the write option drops off again. Worked fine before ios 18 upgrade.

as soon as u got the update my group chat immediately split into two with my friend who’s android and two others who are apple. We NEVER had this problem before and if it’s not broke- don’t fix it!

This started about a week ago and only occurs with one group chat of 4 ppl. All ppl have upgraded phones and they can each receive my texts individually and can send me texts in or not in group. For some reason i can delete group chat on phone , add them all individually and i can text. Then 5-10 mins later, reply box disappears and back to square one. ITS A P.I.T.A!!!

I have checked settings and updated everything accordingly. The odd part is, this is only occurring to this groupchat!

I tried this with my carrier (Xfinity) who told me all my lines are provisioned to work with RCS. I reset my phone and my network settings and it did not clear the issue.

Also having this issue. If I turn RCS on to send a picture and forget to turn it off it will keep booting the group chat saying i kicked someone or they left. Both Android users. They added a cool feature we can't even use because its broken. Following this in hope for a solution.

Please let us know if the issue persists. I'm on iOS 18 with my iPhone 15 Pro and on TMO as well. If this is a TMO issue I'd like to follow the same steps but don't wnat to do it if it's not necessary.

I was so excited to have the new "send later" feature for texting that I (against my better judgement) updated my phone to ios 18. And now my group chat with my business partners is *ucked. It randomly kicks out the Andriod users and we have to keep adding them back in. We are in the midst of opening a new location and really don't need this added headache. It also allows me to create a new group text with the same people without just defaulting to the original text string between us. Beyond frustrated. Please fix this ASAP!

Same issue here. It’s been a nightmare trying to send updates to friends and family after Hurricane Helene hit. Worse, it’s causing issues communicating with those who needed my help. Please prioritize a fix for this Apple 🙏
