Apple Watch Series & Battery Replacement

Does anyone know if Apple is no longer replacing the battery in its Series 6 Watches? I have tried to initiate a battery replacement for my Series 6 Watch via the Apple website and I get a message advising that the service is not available.

Apple Watch Series 6, watchOS 11

No one said it was rocket science and that screenshot is irrelevant and useless. Did you actually try to submit an Apple Watch for service? I was also able to get an estimate. However, once I got to the page where you submit the watch for service, it gave me an error message saying “Online repair unavailable” and the website would not let me proceed. Just like the OP stated.

I just got off the phone with Apple Repair. I gave them all my information … and THEY had the same problem. In fact, they couldn’t even schedule an appointment at a store to get the device repaired. It had to be escalated to a manager who was able to get the repair box sent to me.

This is not rocket science. Apple will definitely service Apple Watch Series 6 in most countries. Third party repair facilities are not under Apple’s control and may or may not offer a battery service at their discretion.

I just screenshot this image when using the Apple Support app to get an estimate of replacing the battery on an Apple Watch services 6 with GPS. You can see the cost is $99 USD.

Since you like being vague, the best anyone can do is provide vague answers. Repair of a product can be specific to a country. It’s possible that the country you’re in, physical replacement of a battery may not be possible. Apple may limit the service to replacing the entire product, rather than replacing just the battery. In either situation, the Series 6 Apple Watch can be serviced, for a fee.

Third party vendors, including Apple Authorized Service Providers, are independent businesses and will operate under their own policy on repairing products, replacing parts etc.

Thanks for your kind efforts to help.

To connect the dots for you, this is why I asked if anyone knew how much longer Apple was going to support this Watch.

I am wondering if they are not going to replace the batteries any longer because they are actively phasing them out?

Guess I need to bite the bullet and purchase a Series 8 or Series 9 Watch. Pulse oximetry (aka blood oxygen) is important to me and I will only purchase a Watch which has not had that function disabled.

I also did respond to your other post 😊 Apple typically supports products for seven years after they are discontinued. The Apple Watch Series 6 likely has a few more years before it is discontinued. However, you can also consider purchasing a new Watch, if you don’t want to put more money into your old Watch.

If the Blood Oxygen it’s important to you, then you should look into a medically approved Blood Oxygen device. Blood Oxygen app measurements are not intended for medical use. Also, the feature is disabled, though still there. If Apple does settle the dispute, I would assume they would try to bring the feature back.

Thanks for your prompt and kind replies, have a wonderful day.

You asked if I tried arranging for service on another device..... presumably to see if the site was down or if the reply was specific to my request for a battery replacement on a Series 6 Apple Watch.

I replied, yes I did, and it worked fine when I used it to try to get service on another device. But that was only to test the site, as per your suggestion, it is not that other device which needs the battery replaced!

Does this make better sense now?
