Working with SSD on iPhone and iPad with USB-C

I searched the Internet, but I still couldn't find an answer to the question "How to properly disconnect SSD (and other storage media) from USB-C devices. There is an "Eject" button on the MacBook, but there is no such button on the iPhone or iPad. I don't want to damage the drive and lose a bunch of photos and videos.

From suggestions online in various reliable support articles, there

is no need to make special effort, with an external drive attached

by wires to either iPhone or iPad; just remove the cable instead.

Can you "Eject" an external device with iPadOS/iPhoneOS? - Apple Community

"Apple hasn’t chosen to include a safe-eject option in iOS/iPadOS. There reasoning

and design decisions for this (or any feature) are known only to Apple Engineering."

"Providing your attached USB Storage device does not employ write-caching, you should be

able to disconnected USB Storage device wherever the device is not being actively written to;

it follows that you should ensure that a file-write has completed prior to a device disconnect."

Of course instructions do tell of other steps, in process to use an

attached drive; those may be useful to read through for more info.

..Several ideas and a few others appear in search results above..

..Another item my thread timed-out, during attempt to add

was this one. That, I'd cleaned up somewhat ahead of time:

Connect external storage devices to iPhone - Apple Support (iOS 18 & before)

//support.apple.com/guide/iphone/external-storage-devices-iph95baac91f/18.0/ios/18.0

Several items are saved aside, in browser bookmarks.~ And

those change fast, with system update/upgrades supercede

contents quickly. So I've learned to look, even if I have some.

.Was glad to offer some glimpse into other avenues to help.
