iPhone 16 Pro running slow after iOS 18 Update

Hey. Haven't heard personally this from anyone yet. How was the device set up? I.e.: from an old backup, or device-device transfer? Only asking as if it was an older backup it might make sense to delete the apps you're having an issue with and re-download. there was also a release day version of IOS 18.0 that you might not have (slightly different build no.); so might be worth looking for that. I needed to on my 16 Pro I got on the 20th. Hope that does something to help.

I’ve just turned this (5G Standalone) off. its only been 10 minutes but both cellular (I’ve had real problems with both), and wifi seem to back to normal ?

99% sure this is related to Apple Intelligence. Turning it off makes my phone a heck of a lot snappier. I like some of the features though so I'm just dealing with the lagginess. Hopefully they make improvements.

Have you done basic troubleshooting like forced restart?

How is it possible that you have not heard about this matter?

I have been contacting Apple support since the first day that I bought the phone, Sep. 20th. My iPhone 16 works too slowly all the time, most likely when the low power mode is turned on. I even changed my phone one time and it is the second iPhone 16 that I am struggling with.

I was told to turn off Apple Intelligence and miraculously, it's resolved all my slowness issues..

My iPhone 16 Pro Max actually runs smoothly like a normal iPhone now. Apple Intelligence needs a lot of work still.

I mainly use Apple Intelligence features on my Mac anyway, and I have flawless performance on that running the M2 chip.

Unfortunately I felt this as soon as I got my phone last night and I thought i haven’t updated properly, but no . I deleted many things from it , have twice as memory as old one and even to unlock the phone , it seems very slow. Not even my 12pro max has been this slow ever . What apple is supposed to do about it ? Because it doesn’t change by exchanging it if is same problem on all of them .

Honestly, I'm so disappointed with the 16 Pro performance.. Compared my my 13 Pro, it's laggy, loads of animation stutters, jumping between apps I find it has to re-load them often, despite the extra ram.. And what annoys me the most is the keyboard lag!!

I have all the same problems as the rest of you. I absolutely hate the 16. In fact, just trying to sign in to write this message the phone glitched and stopped and I had to turn it back to the app again. It’s insane how much slower it is and when I was traveling recently, it glitched so bad that it kept telling me I was out of Storage when in fact, I was only half full. When is Apple going to work on this problem? Obviously it’s not just my phone and yes, I have tried the restart and everything else suggested.

I have been having this issue since the day i bought mine. It is extremely slow when opening up apps and swiping off, my iPhone 12 Pro which I had for 4 years has never caused any issue like this.

Yeah, I have to reboot on the daily at the moment. Hoping 18.2 will fix some issues

It’s possible because we are not Apple. This is a user forum. Apple does not tell us every time someone contacts them for support.

I am also having this issue. Mine was running slow before the update and did not resolve once I updated. It primarily happens when I search within any app. Just got mine September 27th. I’ve done all of the trouble shooting with network, check storage, etc. and nothing has resolved.

It is still doing it on my 14 pro. Gonna head over to apple support to read the bs suggestions they always give to a neophyte which solve only those problems, not this deep gaslighting denial of a problem.
