iPhone 16 Pro Max lagging after iOS 18 Update

I recently bought an iPhone 16 Pro Max and it is almost impossible to use. When I want to take a picture the phone constantly goes back to lock or appears a circle of death. In addition, when I want to search for something that starts with the letter "s" in "Siri suggestion" my iPhone but not only because my iPad also starts to lag. IOS 16 is currently impossible to use smoothly and effectively. Should I do something about my iPhone cameras or wait for the next update?

I am so glad I found you all. I upgraded from the 12 Pro Max to the 16 Pro Max. I am in full regret mode and I wish I had not turned in my 12 to Verizon. I can't seem to do anything on the 16PM. It freezes and restarts. I can't access iMessage, etc. Is this a bug fix issue or a hardware issue? (Please forgive my lack of knowledge.)

SOLVED: Just got off the phone with Apple support to talk about my identical issues. They had me reset my phone but only the “network settings”. It solved the lag and Siri problem.

I suspect a setting carried over from my previous phone in the automatic transfer, which was cleaned up at network setting reset.

I voice text all the time. There’s a serious lag from when I speak to when it translates to text. I’ve never had this issue before, currently have iPhone 16 Pro Max with the latest software update. It is literally one to two sentences behind my voice. I have to wait for it to catch up otherwise if I stop it we’ll cut everything off and not finish the sentence. . Is Apple aware of this and is there a fix?

This needs to get moved to the top of the thread!!!!!

This solved all my crash issues as well. Easy fix and did not take long, may help a lot of people on this thread!

For all you good people out there.

It will sound crazy , but just try this.

Go in keyboard setting , and on language , searh for english uk , not english us. Set the language on english uk and turn off all , predictive text and so on and so on , and just tell me is your keyboard faster 5 times , and your pro max screen way snapier.... But remeber , you have to set writing language to english uk , and do in settings reset keyboard. Let me know is it better

It's not always the iOS update's fault!  Many things can cause phone problems.  If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

Remember, the right question often leads to the solution! Please look in the right direction.

iOS updates aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. The majority of the issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors. This could be a pure coincidence that the iOS update affected the iPhone functions.

Before initiating a standard iOS update, it's advisable to create a backup. Have you completed this step? If yes, proceed with the restoration from the backup.

Have been using my new iphone 16 pro for past few days and it continues to give me the spinning wheel on opening apps, trying to open most things in settings and my subscriptions was the last thing. Went to Verizon store all they could do was close open apps and suggest resetting to default. I have an older work iphone on Verizon and setting the two side by side the work phone has not issues. Very frustrating. The mirror function on my old iphone 7 works at home with my Samsung tvs, however, the 16 pro doesn't even find them, while on the wireless network. My take this phone back if a can and switch to another brand, ridiculous given it is version 16.

Same issue here, pro max again from 14 to 16.

laggy..

could it be the AI processor allocation is leaving not enough for everything else, could it be busy working out my face in the thousands of pictures I have, my mood, my activity, my surrounding environment categorisation.. Too busy to take a picture, change focus, use speech to text……

pray update changes the usage ratio for processing things? And we get an otherwise awesome product that we were expecting?

Instant regret reading this nowwwww. I just got my iPhone 16pro two days ago and was updated to ios18, it lags like crazy. I had the same problem with the black screen camera and it takes a while for the screen to light up when I tap on it. I have yet to trade in my 13pro and have second thoughts. TELL ME. SHOULD I RETURN the 16pro?!?! My 13pro does so so so much better! Sigh.

I returned my 16PM because I was having these problems but didn't even bother looking into it on forums. Just wanted to add to the pile that I had this experience as well. Thankfully I didn't trade in my 13 Pro at the store and was able to send my number back to it. The 13 Pro truly runs better than the 16PM did. I'm definitely interested to know if this new iOS 18.0.1 fixes things because I'd consider getting it again once Apple Intelligence drops.
