iPhone 16 Pro Max lagging after iOS 18 Update

Same issue here, pro max again from 14 to 16.

could it be the AI processor allocation is leaving not enough for everything else, could it be busy working out my face in the thousands of pictures I have, my mood, my activity, my surrounding environment categorisation.. Too busy to take a picture, change focus, use speech to text……

pray update changes the usage ratio for processing things? And we get an otherwise awesome product that we were expecting?

I’m also glad to see I’m not the only one with severe regret of getting this phone. My 12 ran better than the 14 and 15. The 16 has to be the worst. The constant notices of phone running hot and I’ve only been able to charge to 100% once since it came out. It constantly crashes and like one user said, a reboot fixes it until it becomes a problem again.

Michael ~ Although Apple administers these user-to-user communities, that doesn't include reading each of thousands of daily posts for possible questions. However, Apple will "read all feedback carefully" here:

This didn’t fix it for me (iPhone 16 (non Pro) and iOS 18.0.1). The camera works perfectly for 24 hours or so after a restart and then the app crashes every time I try to use it.

it's incrementally better after i updated to 16.0.1, but apps like News crash occasionally and battery life could be better.

I have heard people that did not restore from an iCloud backup are having fewer issues. That sounds like a problem for Apple to fix. I won’t keep using a phone that performs this poorly.

so do we just have to wait for an update these guys have a whole year to perfect this and it still crashes it's crazy

I have the same problem with my iphone 16 pro max, when I try to take a picture the screen goes black and then the camera app crashes. A restart of my iphone fixes the problem temporarily until the problem is back.

Have been using my new iphone 16 pro for past few days and it continues to give me the spinning wheel on opening apps, trying to open most things in settings and my subscriptions was the last thing. Went to Verizon store all they could do was close open apps and suggest resetting to default. I have an older work iphone on Verizon and setting the two side by side the work phone has not issues. Very frustrating. The mirror function on my old iphone 7 works at home with my Samsung tvs, however, the 16 pro doesn't even find them, while on the wireless network. My take this phone back if a can and switch to another brand, ridiculous given it is version 16.

I am so glad I found you all. I upgraded from the 12 Pro Max to the 16 Pro Max. I am in full regret mode and I wish I had not turned in my 12 to Verizon. I can't seem to do anything on the 16PM. It freezes and restarts. I can't access iMessage, etc. Is this a bug fix issue or a hardware issue? (Please forgive my lack of knowledge.)

I went to the Verizon store yesterday.. and just checking the OTD total price... and wanted to think about it a week.. i was determin to get a 16 pro max and upgrade my 14 pro max.. but the reviews from all of you.. it looks like I will just keep my 14 pro max and just wait for the iphone 17 now...

looks like there are too many problems with the phone at this time... I wish I had better batter life and a better camera.. but having less problems outweights the benefits of a new phone.

I just bought an iphone 16plus and it lags so much and glitches , i updated to IOS 18.0 and it still lags!! When i go to the home screen it freezes and then lags a bit before returning to home. When i open safari theres a little split second of glitching, and when the phone is off and i try to turn it on, it doesnt turn on sometimes!! I have to wait like 10-20 seconds for it to turn on, even if i click buttons or tap on the screen!!

I am also having similar issues. Phone is little laggy compared to 13 pro max which I traded in. Was expecting a lot from 16 pro max... Screen little bit stutters when open the phone, animation is little off... Little lag in the OS as well. Hope software update fixes this..

iPhone 16 pro and iOS 18 lagging.

I recently changed from an iPhone 12 that had iOS 16 to this iPhone 16 pro.

I’ve updated the phone to iOS 18 but it still lags. Auto correct is bad, slow keyboard while typing. Apps close by itself etc I could go on for days. It’s just crazy how I’d buy a phone for 1100-1200 dollars and get this nonsense. I’m really contemplating changing it back to my 12. Nobody better say I don’t have enough space because it’s 256gb and I’ve only used up 61gb because of transferred space. And don’t even think of saying to force restart a new $1200 phone
