iPhone 16 Pro Max lagging after iOS 18 Update

I recently bought an iPhone 16 Pro Max and it is almost impossible to use. When I want to take a picture the phone constantly goes back to lock or appears a circle of death. In addition, when I want to search for something that starts with the letter "s" in "Siri suggestion" my iPhone but not only because my iPad also starts to lag. IOS 16 is currently impossible to use smoothly and effectively. Should I do something about my iPhone cameras or wait for the next update?

SOLVED: Just got off the phone with Apple support to talk about my identical issues. They had me reset my phone but only the “network settings”. It solved the lag and Siri problem.

I suspect a setting carried over from my previous phone in the automatic transfer, which was cleaned up at network setting reset.

Upgrading from a 13 Pro Max to the 16 is the least exciting Apple experience I’ve ever had.

I’m having major buyer’s remorse.

It is not our job to troubleshoot this problem with “better questions”.

A $1,000+ purchase should be flawless out the box.

Siri/voice-to-text is painfully slow.

Camera app has a mind of its own.

The overheating is true, it’s hot to touch but only sometimes.

Texting androids is glitchy: We now get “😊 at a Gif” instead of the smile being attached to the image.

I’m embarrassed, not proud of my new device.

So glad to see my misery has company.

Instant regret reading this nowwwww. I just got my iPhone 16pro two days ago and was updated to ios18, it lags like crazy. I had the same problem with the black screen camera and it takes a while for the screen to light up when I tap on it. I have yet to trade in my 13pro and have second thoughts. TELL ME. SHOULD I RETURN the 16pro?!?! My 13pro does so so so much better! Sigh.

I returned my 16PM because I was having these problems but didn't even bother looking into it on forums. Just wanted to add to the pile that I had this experience as well. Thankfully I didn't trade in my 13 Pro at the store and was able to send my number back to it. The 13 Pro truly runs better than the 16PM did. I'm definitely interested to know if this new iOS 18.0.1 fixes things because I'd consider getting it again once Apple Intelligence drops.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I bought my iPhone 13 Mini when it came out and traded it for the 16 Pro last week.

The 16 Pro is less functional and more laggy than my 13 Mini with 70% battery health.

I had the option to have the Mini replaced, but I wanted a phone with a better battery life. Now I have a phone that charges fast, but gets just as hot, lags massively for all videos and many web pages, and has a camera that keeps crashing unless I restart the phone right before using it.

What in the everloving heck?

The battery health is 100%. I’m using the supplied cable and an Apple brick. I’m using about a third of the maximum storage capacity.

This phone should be running like a freaking cheetah, but it feels more like a sloth on a full stomach at times.

I deeply regret getting the 16 pro max. My 2 year old 14 pro max had better battery life at 86% than this 16 PM I have never seen anything like it. When another iPhone sends me a pic in messages, it takes forever for the pics to download. When I pull up Amazon it “still loading” for far too long. Anytime I pull up safari it’s like I’m on 3g even though it says 5g. Take my advice and don’t downgrade to the 16!

I wrote a posting about getting a 16PM just because of all its new

upgraded stuff vs my 14PM and a few weeks ago I came this close to

saying YES at the Verizon store.. but I said " I'm going to think abt it

for a week.."  Then I started seeing posts like what i'm seeing now,

then I decided not to upgrade this year and just wait for the BIG

Redesign Iphone 17 but I will still drag my feet for about a month and a

half on buying it to see if the same problems exist like what we are

seeing here NOW!!. My guess probably not but will see.  So in closing I'm glad I didn't upgrade and will keep

my Iphone 14PM that is working like a Champ and most of all like the

Verizon Commercials sez... Can you hear me now.. YES.. My phone is

talking and working just fine.

This is why i never buy a new phone the first Month or 2... after that they usually get the bugs out but I would think waiting for the 17 for me is a better choice.. wanted a 16PM NOW.. but after reading all this crazy post.. I am glad I didnt buy a 16PM and keeping my 14PM for another year. I know the 16PM has a better camera but if I know im going to need a killer shot.. I will bring my Canon SLR.. but it still nice to have a better camera on my phone but not with all these problems.. No Thank you.
