iPhone 16 pro Video Sound Recording Issues

Just updated to IOS 18.3 and did my test with covered mic.

If I'm not mistaken, some software fix was introduced, because in 'stereo' mode sound is no longer muffled when grill microphone is covered with hand. I hope same applies to 'spatial' too, and we will no longer have this sort of issue.

Keeping my fingers crossed and waiting for other people to acknowledge.

Did the new phone work? Same exact issue here. Talked to tech support who ran remote diagnostics which turned up fine and now they’re telling me to go into the Apple Store.

My issue was resolved when I updated to iOS 18.1

Sure. It’ll take a few minutes. Sure covering mic muffles the recorded sound.

Have you had Apple perform diagnostics on the device? Sounds like a hardware issue.

Same here! I have the iPhone 16 pro and having the same issues. Audio sounds normal when playing on my phone but when I upload through any social media app like KakaoTalk or Instagram, everything echoes like crazy. It’s driving me insane.

I have an issue with microphone on my iPhone 16 pro. While i’m calling to someone, sometimes microphone works, sometimes don’t. Only when I restart the phone, the microphone starts working. But only for a moment. does anyone also have this problem?

I went to a concert last night and shot at least 10+ videos. Only the first two had audio. I can’t remember if the affected videos were because I’d launched the camera app using Camera Control or whether I swiped over from the Lock Screen. But it’s extremely frustrating nevertheless. I’ve force restarted this new phone due to camera freeze more times than I’ve ever done before. Not loving the iPhone 16 Pro line experience so far.

I have the same problem.

Shot 3 video clips (in Stereo) and tried to edit the audio to isolate background and didn't work and eventually appeared to have lost all audio and left with 3 completely silent video clips!

Exported the "silent" audio to LumaFusion on my iPad Pro and LumaFusion appeared to show that only the Left track audio remained.

What is going on Apple!?!?

I just had my baby’s first ultrasound ever.

I recorded a video to show my parents and my in-laws, all overseas, so they could listen to the heartbeat, and the video came up with no audio.

This is such a disappointment.

I have an IPhone 16 Pro Max. Default settings were used (Spatial audio and whatever is underneath was activated).

The iMovie hack someone posted here doesn’t work for me.

Apple, don’t make me regret this purchase. If I cannot have a reliable tool for the important moments in life, you are essentially useless.

Serious audio issues, especially while recording. Even the voice memo is muffled while using the headphones. At first I thought it was the USB C to 3.5mm Jack adaptor and returned it. However a different make and the USB C headphones have the same distortion. I have tried to keep the Mono Audio on, moved spatial to stereo, and finally restarted the phone, but the distortion remains.

Thank you so much BhumiDarji. This fixed my issue. I can even listen to a podcast with my AirPods going while I record a video. Really helps while I’m listening to my true crime podcast but want to get a cute video of my toddler lol. Anyway thank you!

I am also having audio issues when I play back videos I recorded and saved to my camera roll some have sound and some don’t and when I send the ones that don’t have sounds to another phone user they are able to play the video with the sound. This is very frustrating .. feeling regret after upgrade to phone 16

Now, my Camera app won't even start!?!? Had to restart the phone ...

That is, the Camera app will start for about 1 second and the screen will go blank and then back to the Home screen.

What the f*** is going on!? Contacting apple support ....

I have the same problem, I recorded a video on my iPhone 16 por Max using HDR Mood, and then I wanted to review my video, but was no sound. I go to Capcut, and you can hear the sound, then export it again from Capcut. Yes, it's annoying as tempera. I do have another solution
