texting/calling abroad
I'm studying abroad in Europe for the semester, and I purchased an esim with the local phone plan so that id have service. I dont fully remember what the plan they gave me was, but I remember that they said we would be able to have unlimited calls and texts across europe, limited calls outside of europe (to the US), but I'm unsure about whether or not I'd be charged for sending text messages with the new phone number that I recieved to a US phone number. Would it be fine if I used my esim and used my US number to text and facetime another US number?
I've also currently turned off my US phone plan since my family doesn't have an international plan. I just don't really have a use for a second phone number, and if possible I would prefer using my US phone number to text my friends and family, but I'm not sure if we would be charged per text.
