Can I upgrade directly from macOS Monterey to macOS Sequoia?

Hello all,

I have a MacBook Air (M1 2020) and am still on OS Monterey 12.7. Can I go straight from this to Sequoia? There is an update pending 12.7.6 that I haven't installed yet but I'm not sure if this will even be supported now as I think Monterey is obsolete? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Yes I upgraded our 2018 Intel and 2020 M1 Mac mini's from Monterey straight to Sequoia without any issues.

Just to add from previous posting

Suggest having at least 50 GB of Empty Space or more, on the drive.

It will allow the Full Version ( about 14.54 GB ) to 1- download, then 2 - expand and then 3 - commence to install.

You will require and active and working Internet Connection during the Installation process

It may need to Call back to the Apple Servers for possible Firmware Update

If there is Third Party Security Software installed - remove it.

It will interfere with both the download and installation process.

Always make a Time Machine Backup  before doing any upDates / upGrades

Yes. Monterey is now an "unsupported" OS in that Apple will no longer release updates for it.

And yes, you can go direct to Sequoia. Please follow the usual precautions.

• Have a backup

• Review your apps for compatibility

• Update apps before updating the OS if needed

• Plan time to adjust to the new OS

• If workflow will be impacted, defer the update until workflow allows

Be smart. Plan your upgrade. There is no award for being the first to install.
