No Messages app available in CarPlay after iOS 18 update

Messages is no longer available to select in CarPlay after receiving the iOS 18 update. I have reset CarPlay (removed the cars from it). Still not there. Now when attempting to use it in the car, it tells me to go download an app that supports this function.

UGH.

Help please!

You have to remove require Face ID from messages app and reboot your phone. That will show messages in the CarPlay app again

Well it wasn’t wrong because it worked for me and others! i also tested it to watch it come and go off the carplay app depending if face id was toggled on and off for messages! But Sorry it didn’t work for you, im not sure on other fixes other than double checking the carplay app that its on the list but im sure u have done the basics like that, u could check siri permissions? Or maybe check its not something if u have it in driving focus?

I had this issue and the Solution for me was because I had set the "Require Face ID" to ON for messages.

As soon as I reverted to not requiring Face ID the Messages App immediately appeared on CarPlay.

Related problem and a solution - No notifications or received messages when Messages app IS present you should check the Focus is not sent to Do Not Disturb or something similar.
