Unable to create Apple Account on my iPhone 6s

Hello fellow members of the apple community. I am in desperate help as I have just bought an iPhone 6s. I was can't make an Apple ID as 'the server timed out'. I know I have perfect connection and I think it is just something to do with my iPhone. I also cannot update or install any apps (including apps that are preset on the iPhone such as weather, notes etc).

An iPhone 6S can only run up to iOS 15.8.3. The current iOS is 18. Developers only tend to offer versions supporting the last two iOS versions (18 and 17) so it will become harder and harder finding any apps stretching back to iOS 15. You'll find if you try to update apps currently on the phone, they won't. Some old versions of Apple apps will even refuse to work anymore. Anyway, the basic iOS apps such as Weather only update when an iOS update is released. Not just a security update (unless security is involved) but a true iOS update. There hasn't been one for iOS 15 in quite a while.

As for the server issue, you can see if it is an issue at Apple's end by reading https://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus

If it isn't, it could be an issue somewhere else in the chain between you and a computer at Apple's end. You can try restarting your device but sometimes you simply have to wait and try again later. As I said, though, you're not going to be able to do much updating on that iPhone. If you want to run newer app versions you are going to have to go iPhone shopping again and buy something that will run iOS 17 at least. Maybe iOS 16 but even that is going to become harder to update.

That's odd that it isn't working. The difference I can see between ours is mine does not have the regionalization setting. Yours forces a user to the Canadian server status. Since we rarely know where people are location I remove regionalization coding from most of my URLs. They tend to work without issue and then a user sees support article titles in the language to which their account is set (handy even if the rest of the post is in English).

Anyway, if Apple is now requiring us to use a region code in that article it will be a real nuisance!

What I find even odder is that there is no US server status --> https://www.apple.com/us/support/systemstatus/

--> Page not found

Maybe it is down and that's why mine does not work? I can get Canada, UK, Australia, France by using those country codes in the URL.
