Why does my iPhone 16 screen starts flicker in pink when charging?

When Iphone 16 is plugged for charging , and the home screen is waiting to get auto locked, the screen starts flickering in pink. It is intermittent and in turns normal after taping on the screen. Is it hardware or software issue?

I had this same issue with the ultramarine stock wallpaper, as others suggested appears software, I haven’t seen any issues with other wallpapers, only the stock iPhone 16 wallpapers, appears to flash pink or the wallpaper turns pink just as the screen dims before auto locking, by sheer luck I was actually able to capture it on a screen recording and sent it too apple, I have changed wallpaper to my own one and after 24 hours not seen any issues since.

Update/summary to pink flashing screen issue: I have been having this problem with the Ultramarine wallpaper on my new (three weeks old) iPhone 16. Contacted Apple Support, they ran a remote test, no issues, and definitely not a hardware issue. Escalated the case and I have been working closely with an Apple technical specialist who works with the engineering dept. They suggested I try to capture the phenomenon with my iPad and then send the file to them. Unfortunately after many many attempts I failed to capture the flashing screen via screen shot or recording with my iPad. To date, it still occurs, but less frequently and it never occurs when I switch the Ultramarine wallpaper to either a photo in my library, or another Apple wallpaper.

The specialist and I spoke today and she stated that they are now aware of it and will likely issue a software update in the future (didn't say when). In the meantime, the workaround is to use a different wallpaper, which many here are already doing.

My suggestion to others is if you can possibly capture the flashing pink screen happening with another device, contact Apple Support and see if you can send the file to them. Hopefully having the evidence in hand may help them get a fix out sooner. It beats replacing phones unnecessarily.

Yes this is my understanding as I could see it on the video, plus it seemingly only seems to affect the apple stock wallpapers as well, would suggest it is more of a bug with the wallpaper itself, plus I have seen on Reddit people returning their phones and it happening again on the new ones, hopefully they fix it especially as the wallpapers are meant to be the flagship for their new iPhone colours, but I also imagine it will be low on their list of things to fix, unless more and more people report it, in the mean time it has been a few days since I used my own pictures for wallpapers and not seen the issue at all, when I was using stock ultramarine wallpaper I saw it at least once a day! Hopefully they will have an 18.1.1 to tidy up some of the bugs

Same happening with my iphone 16 which just 2days old. Screen flashed pink twice. Contacted apple care and they diagnosed this online and told that its a hardware glitch in rear camera. How can this be expected from such a reputed company.

Any device, or product you purchase can have a hardware or software issue. If Apple diagnosed this as a hardware issue, what did they offer to do for you?

So yeah, I was getting the pink flashing screen while just scrolling and it happened several times. I had this phone for one week so I read some of the comments on here said to change the stock wallpaper so I did that and it cleared everything up no more flashing pink screen And I am happy so I was thinking if I would’ve got a new one and turned this one in it would’ve done the same thing because I didn’t know about the stock wallpaper so Apple should get rid of that wallpaper all right so that’s the fix if anyone’s having a problem Have a great rest of your day!

Perhaps you should try a force reset ⇢

Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

If a force reset is without success, I recommend you take your iPhone to your nearest Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider to have it taken a look at. Keep in mind you are still in the limited warranty period, which covers your iPhone against manufacturing issues. ⚛️

im having the same experience, my 12 is experiencing that too since i have to transfer my "defective" ip16 data on my old iphone and uses a stock wallpaper.

Now i have my new ip16 and i use the same stock wallpaper and the pink screen occured again so now i have chaged the wallpaper to see if its really the stock wallpaper has the bug. Hope this fixes the issue.

I am also facing this issue every day. What is the solution from apple side ?

This is a user to user only forum. No one from Apple is here. I don't have this issue on my 16 Pro Max or 16 Pro.

Instead of asking only other users what Apple has offered on this, let Apple know you're having this issue, by using this link to provide feedback --> Feedback - iPhone - Apple

Everyone who is having this issue, should use that link to let Apple know otherwise, they won't be aware of this.
