Lost my albums in photos , how do find them easily?
It’s simple:
Open Photos. On the top, you will see the photo grid, and on the bottom you will see the collections view.
Scroll down.
You will eventually find your albums under the header “Albums” in small tiles that have a key photo on the left and a title on the right.
Click one to open it.
If you want your Albums at or closer to the top, then scroll to the bottom of the collections view and tap “Customize & Reorder.” You can then reorganize where your collections are and choose the collections you want.
I hope this helps!
just scroll to the bottom after opening photos, and click on Albums.
I figured it out. Go all the way down to customize. Check what you want to view. I turned my albums on and now I see all of them. This took over 2 hours to figure out…sheesh!!!
I found that the only way to get an album to reappear, is to search for its name, change the sort order, change the sort order back to what it was and then the missing album appears at the end of the list of albums.
Thank you so so much! I found my albums at the end of Pinned Collections! What a relief! A bit of a rigmarole to find quickly though!!
The albums are still there……scroll to bottom of photos…tap customize and reorder and reset your preferred view !
Ok, found it, it is in Pinned Collections
You can customize as well.
In Photos, scroll to very bottom and rearrange, add, remove view as you wish.
Favourites, for example is in Pinned so I prefer right under Library, Photos … along with my Albums.
If you go to the pinned collections and scroll all the way to the right side, my albums were in a box at the right end.
the only option is to search for the album by name, then it shows up.
We all have different issues. The 'one' thing that helped me is that for one of my missing albums (an important one) that contains photos of my drivers license and insurance cards and passport and credit cards... (called DOCUMENTS), is that I can search for that one album and find it intact. Just use the binocular search feature.
Still, a terrible update.
Two comments.
1) If you remember the name of an album, you can search for it. Helpful for me since one important album has photos of important docs (drivers license, passport…)
2) Even though my albums have disappeared, I can select any random photo that is not in any album, then select to ADD it to an album, and all my previously disappeared albums are displayed. Weird.
Not a solution, though, maybe a clue?
Just take a photo. Then go to the photo taking screen and you will see your most recently taken picture. Tap on it to get to it and chose save to album and you’ll get to your old albums. I’m a total rookie so please post how you are doing from here.
Tali22, goto page 2 in comments and one of the post explains how to find your folders. They are not gone, just different path to find.

Customize the Photos app on iPhone - Apple Support

Hi Apple Community, in response to Photo Albums disappearing in iOS 18, I found this useful video that guides you to making Photos like they were in iOS 17. It also makes suggestions for new features to enhance the experience. The best part is it’s fully customizable.
I good this helps and eases frustrations…as I was one that experienced the same issue but was on a mission to find a solution.
