Apple Watch lost Thanks to Magnetic Strap failure

I bought on high recommendation from an Apple Guru a FineWoven Magnetic Strap.

I even asked the question about how secure it would be.

I was reassured enough to buy it.

Now my watch is lost, it came off my wrist when picking up my baggage at a very crowded Bristol Airport.

I wasn't careless.

I feel that the loss of my 10 month old watch is a direct result of the strap failing to do its job. I have done everything I can, it's in lost mode and I have written to the lost property office. It hasn't been handed in.

Given this is a failure at the most basic level of a very pricey accessory I feel the is some culpability on Apple since the strap was not fit for purpose.

maybe I should have expected this but then why sell an item that has the potential to not do its job? This falls below the usual Apple standards.

I have written to Apple and requested a goodwill replacement. Am I expecting too much?

Who do I escalate this to? Added together this loss is around £500 and I do not feel I should suffer this loss because of a basic failure. Their care team advisor could only apologise 🤣 when I called them.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
