Mac sound output system defaults to my monitor, which has no speakers

I've been trying to get my Mac mini M1 to deliver bluetooth audio to some speakers, without a lot of success. so it's not helpful that the Mac Audio out setting defaults to my Dell AW2430DW monitor, which in this case doesn't have any speakers at all, let alone bluetooth ones. Is there any way to edit the list of sound output devices, so that I can dispose of the monitor and one or two other gizmos, such as Game Room, whatever that is?

Mac mini, macOS 15.0
