g-drive armor ATD not showin up in disk utility on Apple M2 Ventura 13.6.6 (22G630)

Hi, I just bought a G-Drive Armor ATD 2TB to back up my Apple M2 Ventura 13.6.6 (22G630) which I need to send in for repairs but the drive isn't appearing under Disk Utility at all, ergo is not appearing as an external drive. Does anyone know how to trouble shoot this? The drive itself is plugged in and the white light is on.

Since it's not showing up in the Disk Utility, let's double-check to see if macOS even detects it.


To do so:

  1. Click on the Apple logo on the macOS menubar.
  2. Then hold down the <option> key, and then, select "System Information."
  3. Under the Hardware category, select either Thunderbolt/USB4 or the appropriate port that you have the G-Drive connected to.
  4. Look for this drive.


Does it appear?

  • If it does, then what is this drive formatted in? APFS, HFS+, NTFS, ExFAT, etc.?
  • If it does NOT, then the issue maybe either a software issue with macOS, or a hardware issue with your Mac.
