Email Sound Notifications Not Working After ios 18 Update - Temporary Fix Found

I am not receiving email sound notifications after updating iPhone 14 to ios 18. After trying many offered solutions I have discovered that I DO RECEIVE SOUND NOTIFICATIONS if I uninstall (delete) the native ios "Mail" app and then reinstall it from the App Store. The PROBLEM is that this "fix" only lasts for one day and reverts back to NO SOUND NOTIFICATIONS being received the next morning.

So, if I delete and reinstall the native ios Mail app I receive sound notifications for A SINGLE DAY ONLY and the no sound notifications for emails received condition reappears the following day.

I am not tech savvy enough to know why this happens BUT I have tested this over several days and find it to be 100% accurate. Perhaps someone can figure out why delete / reinstall of the ios "Mail" app offers only a temporary (single day) fix.

This Solved My Problem.

This is how I solved my problems on my iphone 16 ios-18.3.1 apples email app not giving sounds and notifaction's, first let me say this i also have a apple watch-9 my watch always gave alerts as normal. After I read in another fourm to try turning off the bluetooth on my iphone because it was connected to my watch or for others it may be connected to a speaker or so on, My watch has celluar service so when bluetooth is off i still get notifactions on it,

I turn it off and tried it sent myself and email and got nothing. so than i went into settings, apps, Apples Email, than mail accounts i have 4, go to the bottom "Fetch New Data" on the top is "Push" my switch is Off than go to the bottom you will see Automatically my setting was set to this, there is also these setting-Manually, Hour, Every 30-Minutes, Every 15-Minutes, i set my to"Every 15- Minutes" and than i tried sending myself another email and it worked great on my phone and my watch.

Than i turn the bluetooth back on and connected to my watch with it on my waist sent myself another email and got sound notifactions on my watch only which is correct and got notifactions on my iphones lock screen (No Sounds) sounds were on the watch, than i took off my watch and left it sitting on the counter, i sent myself another email and i got the sounds and notifactions on my iphones lock screen on. This fixed my iphones sounds and notifactions and badges,

I hope this may work for others. try turning off bluetooth check to see if connected to another device and change fetch data to 15 minutes.

This is a update on 2/17/25 everything is still working perfect sounds, notifactions and badges 5-days later. if anyone needs to know a setting on my phone let me know.

I bought the iPhone 16 Pro Max the day it came out from that day until today. I still don’t receive any email notification sounds. I’ve deleted the app. I’ve reinstalled the app. I was surprised the other day. I got one sound notification one that’s it did silence. It’s baffling to me how Apple can release a new phone or updates and not be aware of these incidences after all these phones are not inexpensive it’s not right there needs to be more oversight.

I got in touch with someone that should remain nameless Apple support with same issue , explained that I have updated to 18.2 hoping for a resolution, but instead I was told that I was running a beta version …. When clearly just downloaded the public official release 18.2. At the point I gave up because the guy doesn’t know if he is coming or going. Apple get it together !!!

Agreed. I’ve just updated mine to the latest version and still no audible notification for mail delivery. Seriously thinking of leaving Apple iPhone and going to something more reliable and versatile. These Apple products don’t come cheap and yet they don’t work properly. Come on Apple, get your act together.

Actually my problem is no alerts sounds on messages, reminders and calendar alerts. I do get vibrations, but need the sounds to work. I am on 18.2 and I started noticing not all the sounds would come thru at first but none since this update.

we need HELP… I have tried going to notifications and focus and other suggestions nothing has helped.

I cannot understand apple support

when i spend this kind of money on a phone i expect a really good support

we all know how much it cost to fabricate a iphone, we accept the price they charge, because we understand that programmers and programming and everything else involving the creation and development of iphone cost money

So now i ask to Apple, where is my support for the money that i spend ???

this problem with mail notification is going on for 2 months now, i’ve had a lot of problems with my partners and clients because of not replying on time, because i do not receive notifications

Looks like to me Apple is beginning to be a company not reliable, and only aim to have the most profit possible regardless quality or support

I cannot accept this amount of time to resolve a simple issue, when i spend this amount of money for you support

It seems to affect all iphone models. I have a brand new iphone 15 Pro Max with same issue for more than two months now. I do realize that if the Apple Watch is being worn, then that intercepts and suppresses iphone sounds and notifications by design without any option to keep alerts active on both devices. But, this lack of notification problem exists even when my watch is off.

Not true for most of us. I spent about three hours with higher level Apple Technical Support in September. They looked at everything on my phone to find nothing to be causing the issue. All settings were set, and still are, as they should be set. I’ve said before on this post that it seems the fetch new data has started functioning only when the mail app is opened and never periodically per the settings. Because only when I open the mail app does the incoming mail flood my screen with alerts which is stupid. Alerts shouldn’t occur when the user is reading the mail.
