I've just noticed these black inline borders when I click the volume or side buttons on my iPhone 16 Pro. The same happens to my previous phone an iPhone 14 Pro, which is completely reset. What is the purpose of these lines? Is it an iOS glitch?

Normal, not a glich. It's a visual indicator that you have the button depressed. That's not always easy to be certain of, particularly if the device is in a case.
