Set up kids iPhone

We have given my son my husbands old Apple Watch. My husband has some all the set up yet for some reason the watch thinks it belongs to be. I’m not sure how this can happen as I’ve never even opened the watch. E.g when he hits an exercise goal it says “congratulations Samantha”. Why would it have paired with my profile and how do I untangle this?

Did your husband unpair and erase the Apple Watch, as explained in this article, before you set it up again for your son?
