Visual Message Notifications Not Working on CarPlay with iOS18 and iPhone 16 Max Pro

I was told yesterday by an Apple Senior Advisor that the CarPlay text pop up box was REMOVED with the 18 update.  It’s not a bug or something awaiting a fix, it’s gone.  Supposedly something about making everyone completely hands free.  He said features can be brought back if enough users ask for it.  All requests however, must go through the Apple.com/feedback page to be counted. So go forth and ask!  apple.com/feedback   There is not an option for CarPlay so the rep I spoke to said put it under iPhone.

Well, my iPhone 14 Pro has the same problem running iOS 18.01. Thought the update to .01 would fix it. Same problem on my CarPlay in my 23 MDX and 23 Genesis. I do not understand why more people have not come forward regarding this issue.

It really is! I did the latest update yesterday and now I’m getting the normal text popup on texts except the first notification, so hopefully we’re making progress. Continued my text exchange with support this morning and this is the reply I got, “I can ensure your voice is heard for Apple and in the next iOS update, the corrections will be done.” Now I’m cautiously optimistic. 🤞🏼

Yes! I have been searching all day on the web and my phone for a solution. I have iPhone 14 w/ iOS 18.01

My CarPlay will make a sound for a text message but no Visual notification. Actually not true 1 person who texts me comes thru visually. Why?

I have the same issue on my iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 18.1. The only time I get a visual now is if I have CarPlay showing on the head unit (e.g. using Apple Music or Apple Maps). I used to get the visual notification as long as CarPlay was running and connected, but not since the iOS 18 update.

So I’m still having the issue. Reported to Apple and they made me Reset everything still no help. Ugh! Correction to my above comment is that the 1 person whose text I “saw” was because I was using Apple Music.

The making everyone completely hands free would indicate to me that it’s a bug. If I’m listening to the radio and get a message, and if I can’t see the alert pop up on my head unit, I either have to pick up the phone, or switch the head unit to the CarPlay screen. That’s *** backwards, and not what it did for the last several years that CarPlay has been in existence.

I have the same exact issue since I upgraded to ios18, nothing I tried with apple support worked

why is apple not addressing this issue

New update, but CarPlay not on the list for fixes. Has anyone downloaded the 18.3 update yet, and if so, did it fix the problem? Thanks

I have upgraded to iOS 18.3.1 and it did not fix the Visual Message Notification pop up in CarPlay.
