iPhone keeps restarting after iOS 18 Update

Subject: Request for Assistance with iPhone 14 Pro Max Issue

Hi All,

After updating my iPhone 14 Pro Max to iOS 18, I received a pop-up indicating that my battery is not a genuine part. Shortly after, the phone began restarting continuously and now won’t turn on at all. If it does manage to power up, it shuts off within seconds or minutes. I visited a service center, and they informed me that the issue lies with the motherboard. I had to replace it at a cost of around 70,000.

I need help as my phone is non-functional, and all parts are original. My warranty expired three months ago. What should I do next, if issue is came after updating the IOS?

Thank you!

Hi - Exact same happened with me 2 days back (iPhone 14Pro Max 256GB - 1.5 year old phone - no warranty).

The phone kept restarting in a loop, the battery from 90% came down to 20% in approximately 25-30min, overheating the phone and the screen was unresponsive. It went dead post this. Tried connecting charger, didn't work.

The service center analyzed the phone and said they tried changing the battery and display but it kept overheating and seems like the motherboard is gone. They asked me to pay 85k to get same model new replacement unit (not refurbished as they say). This new device will come as non retail product (no box) and will have just 3 months warranty. Need to buy Apple Care again if warranty extension is needed.

The irony is, i asked if i can go with iphone 16 with same replacement since i am anyway asked to pay 85k, the response was "you will get 12k for exchange in this case".

Also, my phone usage is minimal!

It's not always the iOS update's fault!  Many things can cause phone problems.  If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

Remember, the right question often leads to the solution! Please look in the right direction.

iOS updates aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. The majority of the issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors. This could be a pure coincidence that the iOS update affected the iPhone functions.

Before initiating a standard iOS update, it's advisable to create a backup. Have you completed this step? If yes, proceed with the restoration from the backup.
