I have had this message for almost 24 hours and it is draining my battery . The Message came after I updated to “new” iOS 18 on new iPhone 16 pro max. The battery seems to drop like 10% in 2 hours on idle. The phone was manufactured August 2024 and activated just 2 days back.

I have this as well on my 16PM I bought today after doing the tiny patch update, I did have 15PM before this that I did update to ios18 and I never remember seeing this message but it was a couple of days before I checked the battery usage, however I have seen people with 16PM say after a couple of days it goes away so I guess we will soon find out.
Have my 16 Pro-Max for 4 weeks.. It has been 2 weeks since my update to 18.1 IOS. Yet, the Battery message “updating in background” still is there. Have I missed something or need to make some adjustments in my settings?
i must have one of the slow updating 16 Pro iphones. With a substitute chip installed.😅
I just got my iPhone 16 on Saturday November 16, 2024. It is now Monday November 18, 2024. I’m still seeing the same message. My iCloud storage is 103gb out of 2TB being used. What additional back up is needed at this point. Is Apple going to do a new patch for this now? This is a battery drainer for sure.
I get this with every update since 18. Usually by now it’s gone away until the next update however, I just updated to 18.3 on 28 January, It first showed up 31 January and then it went away. Then came back then it went away. Today is February 3rd And it’s popped up again. And I’m trying to figure out why other than maybe it’s because I have an iPhone 12 and it’s an older phone. But background updates should not take almost a week To complete, especially when there’s not a lot on my phone.
24 hours and still showing . I don’t have much data on iCloud only 1GB. It seems like this message also started with iOS 18. Anyway to speed it up?

I have this message too. “Updating finishing in background”. Is this draining the battery? Is there a way to change the setting so it doesn’t automatically update?

After a few hours after my reply, mine went away. Not sure what happened, but it was gone by itself.
