how to ungray a setting on mac sequoia

After updating to Sequoia I discovered that having the mirroring with my iPhone forced me to have to use a password to unlock every time. When I go to Settings > Lock Screen, the box that says "Require password after screensaver begins or display is turned off" is GRAYED OUT and doesn't allow me to select a time, such as NEVER. How do I overcome this? I have already gotten rid of the mirroring. Every single answer I have researched includes going to the setting that I cannot access. What the heck?
